In today off of the 1st FR. Missed the first call from Dean Tom, called back and spoke to him. 3.9/166 so I'm pretty stoked Also, a California resident so maybe that helped, plus work experience.

Wow.avd90 wrote: Dean Tom also offers some insight into the admissions process itself. “All the files are read, previewed initially by me or by one of my staff. I have four other people who help me with the application process initially. However, I read the bulk of them. I read about two-thirds of the applicant pool, while the other four read the other one-third. It’s structured this way because I know what I’m looking for. And, if my staff finds an applicant whom they want to admit, they have to bring the file to me for a final review. Concurrent to this review process we also identify about 1400 to 1600 other applications that are very competitive, and these we send to our faculty admissions committee, comprised of six faculty and twelve students. Students serve in an advising capacity on the committee. I admit roughly 550 people through what I call the administrative review process, and the admissions committee (the faculty committee) admits about another 200 or so. So, we end up admitting about 700 to 750 people. The admissions committee also structures a waiting list, and then everyone else is denied, either administratively or by the Committee.

FR2. No email yet. UR 12/22. FWIW, I know there were plenty of FR1 people who went UR after that.
I haven't seen anything about whether or not the chances for FR2 people to get in are as good as they were for FR1 people, but historically chances of getting into FR2 aren't great, so congrats to all you FR2ers! And regardless of how it has gone in the past, this is obviously a strange application cycle. Wish we had a date that we could expect to know by like the FR1 crew had. I really want to make it to ASW.
And Berkeley, you should know that you had me at hello at the 2010 LSAC Forum in Chicago. That is all.
Edit: Congrats also to the admits! Condolences to those that got dings and WL.

Unfortunately, it looks like Berkeley likes to lower the axe in one big swoop. According to the graph on the 1st page it should be coming soon.

wonder how many candidates are in FR 1 and FR 2 respectively...
any idea on the breakdown? also, where did the info come from that says berk has already admitted 75% of their class? so disheartening!

Re: Berkeley c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I'm sure someone else can/will do a more thorough analysis, but of the people who reported decisions between 3/7-3/12 last year (my FR2 email said they are expecting a decision date around 3/9), there were a total of six acceptances out of forty-two decisions. That's 14.2%, almost exactly the percentages expected of about 200 acceptances out of 1400 reviewed. There were 12 people rejected with 170/3.6 or better. The average for those who got in was 167.4/3.76

Any definite 0L Berkeley admit working on the c/o 2015 Facebook group yet?
I'd start it myself, but wouldn't feel right creating it when I don't know for certain I'm attending.
