Just submitted! I had my UG send the Dean's Certification Form well over a month ago, so I'm hoping Stanford has it filed away and ready for my application.

I'm more excited than I should be. A spot on the wait list may be asking too much.

It makes me so sad that my status checker still says 9/15 as the date. Come on, Stanford, care about me!!

"Your file has been submitted for review."

Submitted at the beginning of November. Got this on Friday, 11/11, was surprised how fast it went. Fingers crossed!

Same; I keep having the vision that they saw it, looked up my name, didn't find it and just tossed it. Of course these are just neurotic visions.

I called Stanford today because my undergrad told me they sent the dean's cert last week but it hadn't shown up on my status checker yet. I was told that it can take up to a week to show up on the status checker after Stanford receives it.

I was really smooth during this 60 second conversation... "I'm sorry for bugging you with my paranoia, but Stanford is really my dream school so... uh... um..."

Way to play it cool, bagel.

Everyone's does. The checker really isn't going to change until Jan. There isn't much sense in checking it.

They should start letting in a small group of people in Dec, around the 2nd week. I don't think they start rejecting people until after Christmas though. So no matter where you fall, you'll either get a call first or a letter in the mail in the spring.

SLS has everything except my Dean's Statement. My undergrad said they mailed it out last Thursday... but still no status update since last Wednesday. Hoping everything got there safe and sound..

Don't forget that there was no mail last Friday. If your undergrad is on the east coast (and if their mail service delays for a day before getting things to USPS), then they might not even receive it until today.

Ask them to fax it or e-mail it. I did that and had my status updated the next day when I contacted the school to confirm that they received it. I posted earlier in this thread and in the LS admissions forum the contact info for doing that.

Hmm, maybe I'll do that instead. Thanks for the heads up!

So I submitted my app 11/1, but they were waiting on my study abroad transcript (only school that required one). I requested one to be sent about 10 days ago, but my status checker didn't show any change. I called today to make sure it didn't get lost, and within about 5 minutes they found the transcript, processed it, and I am now under review!

So efficient, Stanford, and so nice to speak to on the phone. Other admissions offices have been less than helpful...

Submitted 11/7. Got status checker with "app complete" email today.

No Dean's Certification listed though, even though I sent it :(

No status checker yet, but my report has been requested from LSAC. Just got a call from my UG, the Dean filled it out right there with me on the phone and they're faxing it over today. So at least my file will be complete by the time I get the checker :)

How much of a difference (if any) would it make if I applied Nov. 21-22 versus December 2-3?

In general, it's better to apply as early as possible, especially for a school with a small class size like Stanford.

Yup, for sure, just didn't know if the pre-Thanksgiving/post-Thanksgiving submission would matter

It's not like it's going to make a tangible difference. Early December is still not late.

I think it would depend on the reason. If its going to make you a better applicant, then I wouldn't presume it would be that big of deal and might be prudent....You'll still be ahead of anyone taking the LSAT again in Dec and behind most who were waiting on Oct LSAts either way right?

I have friends who applied in January who were admitted in January, friends who applied in September who were admitted in December, and friends who applied in September who were admitted in April.

TLS wisdom of "applying an extra day early = +1% chance of getting in" doesn't exactly apply at Stanford (and Yale for that matter, but I don't have any anecdotal evidence to back that up). Sure, you might hear a decision earlier, but I do not think that your chances of admission are affected. Apply when you have your app put together correctly–a stronger app is better than an earlier app.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
