I think that is a really, really high estimation. That is like, what, just under 2000 applicants to each school (since most T14s get ~8-9k)? There is no way there are that many people on LSN.

Also I just want to note if I don't see you all next year, I'm not nearly as fat as the amount of Chik fil A I consume would suggest. Just wanted to throw that out there so a bunch of anonymous people I don't know won't judge my online avatar.

Bah, no worries. In the meantime, I'm going to start building a fort in front of the admissions office, complete with sign that reads, "GIRL YOU KNOW YOU WANT ME."aekea wrote: Thanks Moriarty! I love that movie too. Sorry about the waitlist

Sorry for the WL, guys.
I literally don't know what to say. Some of those decisions were pure bullshit.
Weirdest cycle ever.

First, sorry to all of the WL today. I'm fully expecting my ding to come any day now...
However, not sure if this is helpful to anyone else still waiting, but generally Michigan gets ~5,500 applications with an acceptance rate of about ~20%. That would mean they accept ~1,100 applicants. Dean Z just posted a blog article (http://www.law.umich.edu/connection/a2z/default.aspx) that says they made calls to the ~800 accepted students. That would mean, historically, they have about 300 more acceptances to give out.
Just thought it was interesting.

Sorry to everyone who was waitlisted, looks like there were a handful of puzzling decisions in there.
Quiet here, and honestly I have no idea what to think atthis point. Submitted back on 11/11.

Just got my waitlist. Took the february LSAT, got another week and a half to wait for a hopefully decently improved score. It was my hail mary pass. Anyone know if that will expedite a potential acceptance if it's particularly good?

Uh, you're not factoring in all of the people that were admitted and have withdrawn by now. Or that the class last year was too big because of a higher than expected yield rate and so likely they will admit fewer. Some slots remain but I promise its not 300...or anywhere close to that.adika86 wrote:First, sorry to all of the WL today. I'm fully expecting my ding to come any day now...

Dean Z's blog refers to current students who have already made calls to more than 800 admitted students. Odds of getting in are feeling more and more remote.......

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Just realized that I've heard back from (almost) every school, and I did not find out about a single decision from status checkers, despite daily checking. Either call or email in every case. I wonder how many wasted times I went through every status checker. And I've been doing about 10 daily for Michigan alone.
Oh well.

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Think about it: the reason why they make ~50 offers off the waitlist is that people get an apartment lined up, picture themselves at a new school, and tell everyone they know that they are a Cornell Kiddo. Then, 2 days before class starts (or 2 days after), they get a call from long lost Dean Z in AA. There's no way most people would break a lease and move to AA once they are all set up and everything. Hell, I probably wouldn't even do it for Stanford. Makes sense, yeah?

I applied the day I got my December LSAT score back, so I actually paid for Michigan. Little did I know that waivers were coming by the truckload.eaper wrote:Grats! Our numbers are similar, so you give me hope (yet you were way earlier in the cycle... damn me not checking for waivers sooner T_T). Hope you enjoy it! Michigan was my "reach" school, and I was expecting a waitlist or a ding. YAY!!! Didn't get the summer start though
Already making plans for the second preview weekend! (Hey, c'mon UM, why the same weekend as Vandy the first time and the DC schools the second? Sorry GULC and GW, I got a way better offer for prom.)
Good luck, and thanks!!

btw, the waitlist website FAQ says they average about 35-40 folks of the waitlist each year...
You mean off the wait list? Not in any recent year.

Finally WAITLISTED. The 4 month nightmare is over. Submitted mid October. 172/3.68. Will certainly remember Michigan as the the strangest school decision and speed wise.

It looks like the class last year was down about 20 students from the prior two years. I applied early december, 3.6ish around 175, and have not heard anything yet. Lower numbers of applications seem to indicate this cycle is unusual.blowhard wrote:Uh, you're not factoring in all of the people that were admitted and have withdrawn by now.
