I know this thread is probably a bit early, but I'm just really pumped to start this cycle. Anyone else out there with dreams of NYU? I'm ED-ing so hopefully that will give me a bit of a boost, as NYU really is my dream school. Let this be a thread where we can discuss all things NYU, chance each other, and give that much-needed support when the purple envelopes start being mailed out in December :D Good luck to all!

If my retake in October goes well enough (and I'm hoping it does given how much of an all-round bad day last time was) I'm going to throw in a prayer ED app with my ~3.3 GPA.

YES! NYU is my TOP top choice. I heart NYU. I am set on public interest and am from the area so I hope I get in.

I don't think I am EDing though because if I apply early, I think I have a decent shot. Though I love NYU still want to see how money plays out and stuff.

So, I guess I'm one of the 1st RD people here.

Question: Since I really want to show my interest, should I write a "Why NYU"?? Any thoughts?

Yeah, I'd play that game but I'm not getting anything substantial from any other school it makes sense to consider.

First page? Alright alright. Is NYU the first Class of 2015 thread up for applicants? Head and shoulders.

May bit a bit too soon for me since I'm still riding the 2014 waitlist, but we all know how that's going to go down.

I'm just really afraid of being tied into any one thing, especially if I visit other schools and decide I like 'em more at some point. Also, trying to find out where my SO will be located job-wise, as that may influence my decision. Don't know if this is a bad strategy, but oh well. If I don't get in, honestly I might just take another year off and try again. We'll see!

a 173/3.8 does not need to ED, you should get some money from NYU

And that's where we differ. To me, there's nothing that could be better than living in New York, going to a law school that'll likely be the best I could get in to, and one that I'll never be able to self-rationalize as anything other than my top choice. Damn it, psyche. Also I'm single (...ladies?), so that doesn't seem like it'll be an issue.

NYU isn't my first choice right now, but I'll definitely be applying. There's so much to do right now between essays, badgering CC's to send in my transcripts, and deciding on my last LOR. I can definitely see the 3 months after everything is done and sent in be infinitely more difficult though.

GPA/LSAT: 3.8/174

Thanks, I certainly hope so. I have previous 167 from 2009, though, so I'm unsure if that counts against me in any way. Hopefully not!

New York is amazing, and it would be a dream to go to NYU, but I still feel like I've got to be realistic. COL is so high there, and since I want to do public interest, I'm still debating whether it would be worth going where I get more scholarship v. the best school for public interest I get into. We'll see... *sigh*

NYU's LRAP is really good. Also, NYU is amazing for PI.

Best of luck to you all!

This. I also will not ED as I could never attend at sticker price. I'll have my application soon after my October score comes though! Good luck to everyone out there!

I'm surprisingly not debt-averse. It's just like that old saying goes, "If you want to climb a mountain, you have to first dig a fairly large hole and climb inside."
