P.S. One of these things is not like the others. Hint: me.

Asha's WL blog posts are classic! I've read them before, but they take on much more significance now that I'm actually WLed. Thanks for the post may.

Although I've tried calling YLS to ask (and don't want to continue trying to call), can we email LOCIs?

I'm not sure. I sent mine in with my response form through email so I suspect they would have noticed the second attachment. I'm starting to think about following up with a paper copy, just to be safe, but I feel like that might be overkill.

Has anyone gotten confirmation from Yale that they received your waitlist form?

Nope. Just the automatic reply from the Yale email address.

I haven't, but I have a seriously unreliable mail person and I live in CA so take it with a grain of salt. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has gotten it yet, though.

I haven't either, and judging from last year's thread we might not get anything.

Just got a confirmation of waitlist. It says "serves as a receipt of your intent to remain on our waitlist for the class of 2014 until 04/20/2011". Date makes no sense at all.

Anyone visiting ?

I don't know, on the one hand it seems crazy to spend money on a plane ticket+ lodgings when there's a small chance I even get in.

On the other hand if I got in I'd kind of need to see the campus.

Maybe I should just drop off the waitlist
Yeah, that's one of the huge drawbacks of getting in off the wait list.

For me, I've seen New Haven before, and while I don't love it, I would go to Yale for all the other reasons. The one thing I'd really like to know more about is the culture of the school (what the students are like), but after talking to people in the know and browsing around TLS, I've convinced myself that the student culture is better than most. Whether you feel comfortable making a similar determination without firsthand knowledge is entirely personal.

In my view, if you're not going to feel comfortable taking the offer when granted it, you probably shouldn't be on the wait list.

I agree that visiting from afar is probably borderline crazy at this point, given the odds, but you can always get a feel for the place via tools like Google Maps Street View, Yelp, and several of the links on the YLS website.

No problem! Also, just updated the LSN data to reflect current numbers.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
