Is this weird?

Post by Upton Sinclair » Wed Feb 09, 2011 12:40 pm

I'm a semi-splitter so I know my full cycle will be hard to predict, but I'm hardly hearing from any schools. I applied to 75% of them before October 31, and the rest two weeks before Thanksgiving. Here are the schools I applied to (bolded have given me a decision).

UPenn
Mich
UVA
Duke
NU
Cornell
GULC
UCLA
Vandy
USC
WUSTL
GW
UIUC
BU
ND

I already have a couple of solid options, so it's not like I'm worried. Just wondering what the hold up is. Anyone that went through or is going through the same thing with this many schools?

I had all my applications in before Thanksgiving and so far I've received two acceptances, two dings, two waitlists, and have yet to hear anything from the remaining 3 or 4 schools.

You haven't heard back from Cornell yet?!?!

...sounds about right.

But seriously, this cycle is pretty slow. That isn't weird at all.

Applied mid-November. Still waiting on 8 out of 16. Hang in there.

I notice you have USC and Cornell on your list.

In that case, you can expect to hear from USC around when the weather in Southern California equalizes with the rest of the country, assuming May isn't overly cold.

And for Cornell, I would relax. You'll definitely hear back from them before the end of the winter.*

way fewer people applied as of 12/3 this year compared to last year http://www.lsac.org/LSACResources/Publi ... EC2010.pdf

so maybe they are just waiting for more applicants...

OK, as long as I'm not alone. I'm really only waiting on one, maybe two schools, otherwise my mind is already made up.

However, I am trying to score as many travel stipends as possible. Free traveling opportunities and a chance to go from out-of-towner to in-their-pantser.

Yeah, my cycle is really similar... all sent before Thanksgiving... almost all complete before the end of last semester... my Cornell app still isn't even considered complete... nothing from Harvard, BU, Emory, Duke, USC, or Georgetown either. I have one rejection, one hold, two waitlists, and 5 accepts.

Its nerve racking but apparently pretty standard so don't worry! App deadlines are passing so we will hear soon!
