In. Not a joke.

Apparently he's calling the internationals really early so he wouldn't have to wake us up.

Wow, the word "awesome" really does come to mind.

I'm in too, guys! Thanks to all the gods out there.
Only thing is, I started hyperventilating the moment I saw his name on my phone, so I pretty much heard nothing of what he actually said - can any of you more clear-minded folks out there fill me in? THANKS SO MUCH, CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU GUYS NEXT YEAR!!!

I was taking deep breaths, so I got the gist. He didn't say much - they'll be sending a packet and log ins for the admitted students' website soon. I think. Okay, I may have been focusing more on breathing than on listening. Damn.

In too! I had to have him repeat what he said because my mind totally blanked after he said this is JR from Harvard Law, but what Crying Monkey said is on the money. I can't wait to see everyone at ASW and in the fall!

Just checked the status checker. It changed to admitted, 11/22. Glad to know that phone call wasn't all a dream!

Just ordered "Harvard Mom" and "Harvard Dad" sweatshirts online. It's gonna be hard keeping this news secret from my parents until Christmas, but very much worth it for the look on their faces a month from now =D

Here's how I told my parents:

1) I happened to be able to visit Cambridge immediately, so I did so.

2) I bought "Harvard Mom" and "Harvard Dad" shirts.

3) I put them in a mailer, and sent them next-day air back home. I told my parents they'd be getting a package, but to hold onto it for me and not open it. (Sometimes I still get stuff shipped to me back home, so this was fairly normal.)

4) When they told me it was there, I kept them on the phone and told them that it contained their Christmas presents and they could open it early.

5) I laughed hysterically at their initial confusion and subsequent "ohmigod" responses. They were definitely happy I did not actually wait until Christmas to tell them.

You're free to steal this idea and repurpose it to your own ends as you see fit. Maybe wrap them up and encourage them to open it over Thanksgiving?

What a cute idea. Too bad I am Jewish and already told my parents.

Amen to that! I was scared as hell half an hour after the call that it was either a prank or a daydream (I have a tendency to sink into those a lot), so thank heavens for the status checker.

Probably not, haha. So are people here planning on attending or still considering other options? I am pretty sure I will be attending!

I got the call at 11:45 in the middle of my 7th grade English teaching block. The next 3.5 hours amounted to a defacto holiday for my students.

Lots of cute "Congratulations" signs though.

And now it's my turn: Congrats everyone.
