Rutgers-Newark Class of 2014 (First Acceptances are in)

Post by NJcollegestudent » Thu Nov 04, 2010 4:15 pm

My file just went complete at Rutgers-Newark today. Anyone else complete and excited at the prospect of Rutgers Newark Law?

I should also post this as well: Numbers 153 and 3.98, 3 LORS with 2 that will be updated.

Also, this is my first choice so i am hoping to get in.

Anyone know when the first decisions come in? Last years thread had some in early December, or did anyone's come in November?

I'm in deferred from last year. I think both Rutgers were the first I heard from, and both came in Dec. sometime before Christmas.

Thank you for the answer on my question. Does defer mean wait listed, or does it mean you decided to defer admissions for a year?

Right I was accepted last year and decided to attend in 2011 rather than 2010.

Good Luck to everyone!

Does it go from file complete to anything else before we get a decision? I am hoping someone who applied last year could shed some light on that question. The last email i received stated my file was complete and ready for review.

I was wondering this as well. Any idea when decisions start going out?

Sorry I don't remember if the status checker had anything between complete and the decision. However I can tell you that I was complete on 11/30 last year and received the acceptance email on 12/21. Scholarship e-mail also came on 12/21 a couple of hours later.

Just thought I would share, I noticed on LSN that most of the people who sent in their APP around early November heard on 12/3 - which is this friday! Hopefully they will continue this type of early notification and we can hopefully expect some news either this week or next!

To the 1 L student, i am an undergraduate at Rutgers-Newark right now and i have seen your clinics in the courts. When are we allowed to participate in these clinics, as 2L's or 3L's?

In addition, do you use Webreg to register for law classes, or another system.

Could you talk about life in Newark, and just overall how you feel about the law school?

While i am not a 1L yet, i do attend Rutgers-Newark as an undergraduate, so i can addresses some points.

The campus is located in the middle of Newark, and walking distance from Penn Station, or a 3 minute light rail trip. You can also take the 76L to the campus.

The law building consists of one physical structure, and houses the law school, and the criminal justice school (part), and a few undergraduate classes. The library is quite spacious and often space is avaliable to sit and study.

I was just at a tour of the school recently and I asked Anita Walton similar questions. Basically she told me that they do not update their status online in between file complete and decision. That's all we get. Also, she said that she felt the earliest decisions would go out is December 15, but I know that in prior years they have gone out as early as December 3 so perhaps she just gives that answer to be conservative.

Hopefully today we can find out if there are decisions to be released today.

My status checker changed to decision rendered. But no actual decision posted on there. Does have a little requirements box with a seat deposit and official transcripts check boxes. For what its worth.
