Temple PT or Rutgers-C PT? Assuming in-state tuition at both.

Re: Temple 2011
I think it depends where you want to work. If you want to work in the Philly market i would go to temple. If you want to work in NJ Id say Rutgers (even though Rutgers students can get jobs in Philly as well, Temple just has more standing, imo)LSATclincher wrote:Temple PT or Rutgers-C PT? Just sent my application in on Monday, I know, late in the game. But how long before I should expect the e-mail for the status checker? It has already been longer than I expected.

Re: Temple 2011
So anyone think we'll get the acceptance packets before February?
And on a side note, I'm planning on touring the school in a couple weeks - is it like the website says where you just show up at the school and you're good to go?

For the side note... you can just show up and a student will give you a tour. If you want to sit in on a lecture, call ahead. Those are the two options.aidez-moi wrote:So anyone think we'll get the acceptance packets before February?

For anyone curious about obtaining in-state tuition, the admitted student website addresses it somewhat.jjlaw wrote:For all those curious and itching for their acceptance packages, the Admitted Students Website is up and running.
So it sounds like it's possible, but a bureaucratic nightmare.ASW wrote:The law school does not make residency determinations for tuition purposes. All residency determinations are made by the Residency Certification staff in the University Office of Academic Records. Generally, a student who comes to Pennsylvania primarily or solely for the purpose of pursuing his or her education will not be considered a Pennsylvania resident for tuition purposes. A student may challenge his or her non-resident classification by submitting a residency application to the University Office of Academic Records. Copies of the Resident Tuition Eligibility Guidelines and a Pennsylvania Residency Application are available from the Law School Admissions Office. Students considering a challenge to a non-resident classification should be aware that choosing to live in campus-related or university housing may raise a barrier to reclassification"

I looked at the admitted students site and it seems to indicate that admitted students will not get scholarships until after the first seat deposit but can request a preliminary financial aid offer.

@Ran: I believe that is for need-based aid not merit based aid

Yeah I think dreakol is right. From what I read, merit based aid comes directly with the acceptance packet. Which may or may not ever arrive.dreakol wrote:@Ran: I believe that is for need-based aid not merit based aid

Thanks for that information! I plan on sitting in on a class or two in late March, assuming I am accepted by then. I applied part-time so that might not be the case...twb136 wrote:For the side note... you can just show up and a student will give you a tour. If you want to sit in on a lecture, call ahead. I'll be meeting with the dean of the law school in a few days.
I think I'm going to be frank about how disappointed I am in this process...

I'm sorry, but get over it and just wait. Although if you want to shoot yourself in the foot, be my guest.kk19131 wrote:I'll be meeting with the dean of the law school in a few days.

Agreed. I applied mid-November to 16 schools and I'm still waiting on 10, including Temple. The wait is not unusual.TJISMYHERO wrote:+1aidez-moi wrote:I'm sorry, but get over it and just wait. I'll take my chances.
If she finds this a reason to have me rejected then so be it, but I'm going to speak my mind.
