And the ambiguous email hath cometh. I am actually really surprised by this one. Looking at LSN, I had figured that despite my lower numbers, i would get in via email as there were lower numbers that were accepted. I guess my 7 years in the army, 2.5 years in Iraq, fluency in Arabic (MSA and Iraqi), Interrogations at GTMO, URM status, Summa Cum Laude honors, and epic personal statement were no match for someone with a year in the peace corps. I guess I will hold out for the wait list, i hope. Ahhhhhhhhhh this really sucks. I wanna drop F-bombs galore right now but i am going to hold my tongue until I get the official word.

I'm confused.... Summa Cum Laude, coupled with "despite my lower numbers?"

I assume you have a higher GPA and low LSAT then? How low...because as we've all found out on TLS, you could have cured cancer, but you're not getting into law school with a 140. Are you at least 155+?

My degree granting institution does not include transfer credits in your cumulative GPA. So my Arizona State University GPA is a 3.97 (two years of studies/60 credits) which gives me Summa Cum Laude honors and my overall gpa is 2.8 because of the 130 credits I accrued as a younger man. My LSAT was an abysmal 153. Slightly better than a 140. And I have read about a couple URM148's and similar cumulative GPA's getting in. URM, plus what had assumed were pretty distinctive additional softs. I just figured if those numbers got in, than my numbers especially with the new gpa and softs would not have too difficult a time overcoming a poor LSAT showing.

Anyone else applying to any of the fellowships or scholarships? I've sent in my application for the Health Law Fellowship and I'm going to send in my app. for the Kenneth Adreani Scholarship. I doubt I'll get the scholarship but I'm REALLY REALLY hoping for the fellowship as it is what I want to practice.

You are quite the soothsayer. Got the wait list letter today. I have to say I was dreading opening it. So far this cycle I am 0-0-2, better than 0-2-0 i suppose.

It took me about 2.5 weeks to get my waitlist letter w/ a 162 and 2.0.

I am. I really want to be in Chicago and at Loyola but DePaul offered me significantly more $$$. I would prefer Loyola but can't justify basically double the debt to go there over DePaul. FWIW, it would be $12k/year more to attend Loyola over DePaul for me..... worth it?

I'm looking at $4k/year more at Loyola, and I think I'm still leaning that way. $12k/year, I would seriously look at DePaul. These schools are still sort of ridiculously priced even with the scholarships they're handing out. I'm struggling with it.

I'm also deciding between DePaul and Loyola. My sister went to DePaul and loved it. But many people loose their scholarhips. Once your gpa falls below the requirement you loose the scholarhip completely. Loyola's gpa requirement is much more forgiving so it may end up costing less in the long run.

I think it may be worth it if you like the school better. I was accepted to both, got a better scholarship to DePaul, visited both and sat in on class/toured and decided I didn't like DePaul. The guy giving the tour at DePaul even mentioned how many people lose their scholarships and he also alluded to section stacking! On the other hand, I loved Loyola when I visited. So yeah it costs more but I think it depends on if it offers more of what you want with regards to the programs, atmosphere, etc.

Went complete today. In regards to most acceptences arriving via e-mail I am a little concerned when my e-mail said this:

"This email is to notify you that your application file is complete and has gone to the committee for review. You will receive a decision letter via regular mail four to six weeks from the date of this email. Due to the volume of applications, we are unable to provide information regarding admission decisions over the phone or via email."

Are they really that backed up or was this a quick no for them?

don't worry, that's a canned response from the school. got the same thing in December. I was admitted four weeks later.

I applied for the Health Law Fellowship as well. I'm actually not super concerned about the money and it's nice to get some but I am doing it mostly for the experience. It seems like a wonderful opportunity. I assume the money might depend on the number of fellows they accept if they don't give a number. *crosses fingers* Hoping I get it.

Strongly considering attending. I'm about to sit in on a class, tour the school and meet with the financial aid office. If I like what I see, I'll probably be here in the fall.

Went amazingly well. Met both Dean Yellen and Dean Bloomquist, they were both friendly, open, honest, and very comforting. Honestly, I think it solidified Loyola as my number 1 if they can find a few more bucks for me.
