UCR 1/25, this is round two for me. Nervous. The best I can hope for with my numbers is a WL, but the glory of an acceptance would certainly make me feel better about everything.
EDIT: Or they could count Native Hawaiian as a URM. That would be pretty great, but extraordinarily unlikely.

What are your numbers NZA? you can PM me if you want or keep it totally to yourself, no problem. Just wondering because I'm right on the fence and have similar datesNZA wrote:UCR 1/25, this is round two for me. Nervous. Oh, I don't mind having my numbers out there (they're in my LSN profile, too):modmx wrote:What are your numbers NZA? you can PM me if you want or keep it totally to yourself, no problem. Sucks. They've only accepted people with 170+ it looks like, aside from URMs. But, hey, it's all good. Can't get too negative.

Your high GPA is definitely going to be a help. Looks like they're more likely to accept folks with a high GPA than a high LSAT.

Re: Penn 2011
I know the subject of sending an LOCI before hearing a decision has been kind of discussed to death on this forum, but I'm wondering if anyone has sent one to Penn?
Penn wasn't originally my first choice but my SO just got a great job in Philly so our plans have kind of changed. Suddenly I feel like I didn't put enough effort into my application and maybe I should submit a Why Penn. I submitted the art/lit essay with my application.
Any suggestions?

I did something of this sort. I realized I had not put in enough interest initially, and added a statement of specific before my 1st review. The office will tell you that they will take anything as long as a decision is not reachedCM612 wrote:I know the subject of sending an LOCI before hearing a decision has been kind of discussed to death on this forum, but I'm wondering if anyone has sent one to Penn?

Oh fantastic, thanks. I'm pretty sure that my art/lit was pretty shitty (although, seriously? that topic? can they blame us for writing shitty responses?) but I didn't really know what to put in a Why Penn. My ties to the area are super obvious: I grew up here and currently have a great job here, but now that I've done more research I think I can write a pretty good one.modmx wrote:I did something of this sort. the literature essay was tough. I started it and stopped because it was going nowhere. But props to you for undertaking that.
now spill your heart out in that 1 page specific interest essay and hope for the best. good luck

Yeah. I was an art history major so I felt like I had to. Now I'm thinking it was maybe not such a good idea. Thanks for the advice!modmx wrote:the literature essay was tough. I started it and stopped because it was going nowhere. But props to you for undertaking that.

When a decision is made does the status checker show that?
And I agree with Penn seeming to like high GPA but I think that just might tie into being more holistic

I'm thinking tomorrow is decision day. UCR 1/10-->1/20. I'm expecting a waitlist with my low GPA and atrocious literature essay, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I am sending out my app for Penn tom. Just wondering should I throw in a paragraph at the end of my PS personally tailored to Penn Law or can I leave it out and rely on my Why Penn/5 year essay?
