Re: South Texas 2011
I'll be applying for the Fall. I wanted a little time off between graduation in December and law school so I didn't apply for the Spring. Congrats though!

When can start to apply for fall admission?
I heard they are not accepting fall applicants yet. Is this true?

Yeah, I called the admissions office last week and they said the application doesn't go up until December 1st.staroftony wrote:When can start to apply for fall admission?

Which Law firm just out of curiosity? I'm applying to STCL for fall 2011, as well as, U of H and I worked at a firm over the summer with grads from both schools.

I applied for Fall 2011 as well. When I spoke with admissions they said the Fall 2011 apps would go up 12/1, but I saw it go up on 11/15 so I applied on 11/16.

Yeah I know. That's a little ridiculous. So much for rolling admissions. Princeton Guide led me down the wrong path, haha.txadv11 wrote:uhhh guys....

Yeah, I just saw that yesterday, too. Kinda wish I had known that before, I could have spent the money for that one on another school and waited. Oh well, here's to waiting a long time for them to let me know...txadv11 wrote:uhhh guys....

Actually, I don't think they are very generous compared to peer schools.upfish wrote:Just applied. Does anyone know if STCL is generous w/scholarship money or not?

This must be some kind of Houston bootstrapping phenomenon, cos I've heard the same thing about UH. I guess at least I got the app fee waived, so I didn't spend too much on the app. =/txadv11 wrote:Actually, I don't think they are very generous compared to peer schools.upfish wrote:Just applied. Anybody planning on going to the Open House they're having on the 22nd? Just got an email about it and I'm considering going.

Actually the only Texas school that I have seen be generous is Baylor and sometimes UT, but South TX is far down the list.upfish wrote:This must be some kind of Houston bootstrapping phenomenon, cos I've heard the same thing about UH. South TX is my #2 because of it's location (UH is #1). I'd be perfectly fine with going to South TX.txadv11 wrote:me! 3rd best trial advocacy program in the nation, in a pretty decent legal market (given the times) can't argue with that!jacketman03 wrote:South TX is my #2 because of it's location (UH is #1). I thought about it. Any real advantage to going? I just felt like most of the information they are going to give you can be found on their website.

Yeah I agree. I'm pretty much just going to see the building and see what kind of people I'm going to be learning/working with, lol.Mce252 wrote:txadv11 wrote:anyone else?txadv11 wrote:me! I think this is just the work boredom talking, but it's kind of weird that STCL puts the blank seat deposit fees on your status checker, isn't it?
All my other ones only show the app fee.
(exciting stuff, I know.)

Re: South Texas 2011
Just FYI I went to the open house today. They said decisions are not necessarily coming out in order....but will being in the next week or two. It looks like merit scholarships are typically only 2,000-12,000 (tuition is 27) and awarded to about the top 30%. The facility was pretty nice--I have been to a total of 6 law schools in 4 states.. and this one or Baylor was the best facility. The faculty was impressive compared to peer schools.... Thet claim a trial advocacy program that ranks #3, a legal writing program that ranks top 15, and 106 (apparently the most of ANY ABA school) national advocacy titles. The school is in downtown Houston. The building is around 6 floors, with a total student body (huge part time) of 1278.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
