Got it- thanks! Do you know of anywhere I can look at some sample LOCIs? This is the only one I'm doing. I thought I was finally done with the essays... hahaKnock wrote:I've read a few excellent LOCIs of either type. Personally, my LOCI as it stands right now is mainly an update on my application and then explaining why SLS is my top choice. I didn't personalize my PS, and only submitted 1 targeted LOR, so I think this would probably be more effective than trying to sell myself some more. I'm hoping my fall grade update and additional LOR will help with the selling myself part of my application, along with my other application materials.arism87 wrote:Is it appropriate to add why you feel that YOU would be an asset, or is it better to stick to why Stanford is best for you?r6_philly wrote:Yes email to the admissions office and they will get you a confirmation within a week.arism87 wrote:

Hmm, if you ask in this thread I bet a lot of people would be willing to share theirs. I'd be willing to share mine once it's finished.arism87 wrote:Got it- thanks! Not really a personal note, but I feel like I should say it. Having to stretch is not as good as not mentioning it, of course.arism87 wrote:Aw, have some faith!r6_philly wrote: ETA: if a solid case can be made, of course.
Although if they're gonna stick to 3.9+ through the whole cycle, nothing I can say is gonna help! lol
Thanks for all the advice
3.9+ is nice, but if you have other qualities, feel free to outline it. They may be more important anyway.

Haha, well I don't want to rush the editing phase ! This is probably the last thing i'll send into SLS, so I want to make it count.r6_philly wrote:Stop slacking!Knock wrote:

I hope/think I do have the other qualities they are looking for, unfortunately idk if it's enough to see past the ole GPA. Anyway there are a few things I want to add that weren't apparent in my personal statement so.. here goes nothing.r6_philly wrote:Not really a personal note, but I feel like I should say it. Sorry, last question before I back off!
How long should it be? A page? Single or double spaced?
Why do I feel like I'm struggling to keep this brief- that is never my problem!

A page maximum, and apparently a Stanford UG talked to the S pre-law advisor, and they said to single-space LOCIs to SLS, so i'd single-space.arism87 wrote:Sorry, last question before I back off!

Thanks r6, Knock, and The Stig (via PM)!! I really appreciate it!
If anyone has some free time, I'd really appreciate a read-through of my draft- it's pretty rough (clearly, as I've only just written it while harassing you all.. lol)

I sent SLS a LOCI a week ago today, to the general admissions email, and haven't got a response. Do I send another email checking to see if the LOCI was received? Or just chill out?

Mine took about three days to get a response. I've heard other people ITT saying it took them a week or even a little bit longer to hear back. If you don't get a confirmation email by Wednesday, I would think about giving them a call.bedefan wrote:I sent SLS a LOCI a week ago today, to the general admissions email, and haven't got a response. I think it's going to skip the early applicants who are already skipped so far.cardinals1989 wrote:CosmoLaw wrote:There's going to be a barrage of rejections in the next 2 weeks I think... brace yourselves
But this fits my theory, they look at the entire pool after 2/1 and do a sweep, anyone left is in good shape.

I know my Blood Pressure is spiking furiously at the mere thought. But if they are going out chronologically, then you're safe. I'm notcardinals1989 wrote:CosmoLaw wrote:There's going to be a barrage of rejections in the next 2 weeks I think... brace yourselves

Maybe your LOCI will get there just in time to spare you of the barrage.CosmoLaw wrote:I know my Blood Pressure is spiking furiously at the mere thought. Oh, of course! I didn't even think of that. I'll wait until next week at the earliest to call them.r6_philly wrote:Remember tomorrow is the deadline, so they are probably flooded with applications.bedefan wrote:I sent SLS a LOCI a week ago today, to the general admissions email, and haven't got a response. To be honest I had this fantasy number running through my head the past week where Dean Deal was so impressed with my LOCI that she just picked up the phone right then and called to admit me... That kinda stuff happen to anybody else?
...The delusions of grandeur, I mean, not actually having Dean Deal call to admit you immediately after reading your LOCI.

They are holding non-auto-admits for now and rejecting the ones not qualified. Once they have a view of the whole pool, us median/borderline/maybe applicants may get a second look and some will get in.rs2004 wrote:
