Any consensus on who is getting interviews? Is it mostly for long shots, the middle 50%, or just random? I got an email about it today.

Borderline applicants, splitters, maybe some non-traditional students. My interviewer said it most likely means they're interested but want to know more about you before they make a decision. According to past threads there have been many waitlists, many admits, and few rejects from the interview pool.AreJay711 wrote:Any consensus on who is getting interviews? +1. When I told my Uni.'s pre-law adviser she was very positive- said it meant they were interested. It definitely means you're in the more likely to be admitted half of the probability spectrum.AreJay711 wrote:Well that's good i guess; at least I didn't an outright reject / WLMike12188 wrote:Borderline applicants, splitters, maybe some non-traditional students. Called today to sort out why I hadn't gotten an acknowledgement email/status checker (turns out they had the wrong email address, d'oh!) and got an interview email hours later. How long does it usually take for an alumnus/a to get in touch? In the email they said it can take weeks ( ).

I'm with Sentry on that one. And worried that those little postcards could easily go missing/overlooked. I'm sure we'd figure it out at SOME point.

"Complete" 10/28
Updated 11/4, 11/11, 11/16
If decisions are going to go out this week, is it a good thing to have been updated on 11/16?
Would really like to get the ball rolling with a nice acceptance...

idk
I got updated on 11/16 and because of my LSAT score I imagine they'll be reviewing me again, so not everyone on 16 will be getting a letter or email I imagine.

I thought there was speculation about that a few pages back. I could be confused though. I hope I'm wrong anyway.eskimo wrote:hipstermafia wrote:GULC hasn't really YPed in the past, i doubt they will start now.

Re: GULC Waiting Thread
I found this thread, seems like they YP with a "preferred preferred" wait list. Seems like if you get put on that and write a LOCI/Why Georgetown you should be inbirdlaw117 wrote:I thought there was speculation about that a few pages back. I could be confused though. Yield protect. Some schools, to try and protect their yield rate (the % of people offered admittance who actually matriculate), will reject/waitlist people whose stats make them "too good" for that school. For an example of a school that people accuse of being a flagrant YPer, see American's graph on lawschoolnumbers: http://american.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/0910/tipler4213 wrote:what is YP?

Re: GULC Waiting Thread
IMO very few people in that thread are YP candidates, most are splitters/borderline candidates. The few that had high numbers and were waitlisted may have had something else seriously wrong with their application.Dwigt wrote:I found this thread, seems like they YP with a "preferred preferred" wait list. See LSN applicants above both medians last year:
http://gulc.lawschoolnumbers.com/applic ... ype=jd&p=1
Not a single reject, very few waitlists. Almost every waitlisted applicant applied late in the cycle.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
