If you call, they probably will tell you if they are laughing at your file.

Well, looking at their emails, they probably indeed would. "Oh, you're that guy? *In background* Hey guys, it's THAT kid calling hahahahahahahaha"

May be a common question (I committed the cardinal ( ) sin of not reading the whole thread), but what is a good amount of time to hear from Berkeley before getting worried? Ie, if UR how long before it is likely you are getting rejected or gong to CR?

if you're an auto-admit you'll hear back within 3 months, but if you're going to CR it's too late for CR1, so you probably won't hear about CR 2 until after Feb 18th. You'll hear back most likely when everyone else hears they're going to CR2

3 months? I would hope so....also I am assuming that was a typo.

no typo. People who submitted in October in many cases didn't hear back until January. Obviously you'd probably hear back earlier now that it's late in the cycle, but we don't have a precedent for more recent apps

looking at LSN, I see a few cases of people being accepted and applying in January. Most were URMs, some heard in 2 weeks, others in March

Well, I mean, I am guessing an auto-admit will not be waiting until May (or anybody else for that matter), which is why I was questioning. Early submissions don't tend to set precedent for the later parts of a cycle, but I was just wonderign if anyone knew from previous years.

actually everyone on LSN last year who submitted in January and got admitted was URM

*not including WL then accepted

Just got a call from a Google recruiter, 650. I'm an east-coaster so seeing that number flash up was a near-death experience.

Well, this is this year, so a bit different, but...I submitted in January (1/7) and got accepted in January, and I am definitely not a URM in any way.

Berkeley is 510-643-whatever or 510-642-whatever.

Yeah, we're numbers twins!!! And we together prove that non-URMS can and do get admitted quickly/in January.

last year they had a record number of applications and ended up overenrolling, so if apps are down this year (and I believe they are), Jan submitters should have a better chance (assuming less apps overall means less super-competitive apps as well)

Oh I am glad they don't call me because I am waiting on Stanford - 650.

Yeah, that was my thought. If they were both calling from 650 numbers, I would be having absolute heart failure.

It's 510 and I am not sure if they are still calling.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
