My stats are in my profile, just subtract one point from my LSAT.

EDIT: In response to your theory - I doubt it. I am hardly an auto-admit at NYU.

Maybe I'll take pictures of how gross it gets when it snows. But I guess I shouldn't scare you all off...

& woooo NYC undergradness :)
Haha yeah, every winter I manage to step in an icy black puddle that just looks like asphalt. NYC totally ruins snow for me.

But yeah, undergrad in NYC was great!

Submitted 9/19. UR 10/20. 173/3.65.

I doubt I'm an autoadmit though. I have multiple LSATs (166, 173) and NYU is notorious for averaging :\

I question how much this really holds true though. It just seems like it would be in the schools' best interests to take someone with a 166 and 173 vs. a straight old 171, given the 173 person is going to help bring up the LSAT median.

Applied 10/15 UR since 10/29. 171/3.9 I wouldn't think I'm an auto admit either. But I'm hoping your theory is true :)

I went to undergrad there and grew up in a smallish Midwestern college town (pop. ~60k). Going to school in NYC is amazing; I highly recommend it. The city shouldn't be intimidating; it's really just a bunch of small neighborhoods packed together on a tiny island. Since you're from a rural town, you will likely notice just how small the island of Manhattan is (40 sq miles). Of course, this means it's very crowded, particularly on that first day of nice weather in the spring when everyone crawls out of their holes to flood the sidewalks, but I digress.

The biggest challenge I encountered as a freshman at NYU undergrad with only one other person from my hometown as a student there ( and he's two years older), was finding my niche. You are really responsible for your own happiness there. The law school community is obviously much, much smaller than the undergrad, but I feel you could experience the same challenge. I mean, my undergraduate school is one of the smaller ones, and I still found that to be the case. As long as you're proactive in your happiness, your career, and your school work, you will flourish. And if that's not something you do already, those are great habits to pick up. I'm a very shy person, but you wouldn't be able to tell now.

My favorite part about NY is that it's a city full of nerds. I like to call it the "island of misfit toys" because everyone is just so weird. And I love that about NY because you can just let your freak flag fly and feel confident doing so. Of course, when you're painfully vanilla like I am, some might be weary of you, but at the end of the day, you can grow from that, too. ;)

Yeah I hope you're right but still I wouldn't say I'm an autoadmit with NYU's new median of 172, 75% at 175, and my GPA just above their 25%.

Nah, I'm targeting Penn. I went to UG right next to NYU and I currently work a few blocks from NYU so the thought of 3 more years at NYU feels a bit stale to me. But even with all that, NYU's a close 2nd!

Did everybody receive their status checker around the same time? I submitted my application toward the end of October, and I haven't received anything yet today...

Got my status checker. Applied 9/21, under review as of 10/20. I'm ED, and there's no indication about it on the status checker, but I got an email from them confirming they received my ED contract because I was able to scan/email it. I doubt the process will be any different this year (as in, we will still have to wait until Dec 1 at least), but its nice to know they have everything.

Got mine around 12:15 est, and that seemed to be when all hell broke loose on this message board. So it seems like it may have been a pretty big mass mailing.

Don't know about that theory, mulch, but I'm a splitter with weak-average softs and I'm still processing. Submitted late October though.
