Submitted mid January - complete around Feb 1....certainly late in the game, but folks who submitted at deadline have heard something by now.

I didn't either, and I live in nyc....so it definitely wasn't sent last week, if it was sent at all.bob77 wrote:did you get anything in the mail today?patallica22 wrote:Submitted mid January - complete around Feb 1....certainly late in the game, but folks who submitted at deadline have heard something by now.

Ugh, just painfully put down a deposit at BU too (which was expected considering I'm waitlisted everywhere)...

Re: Columbia 2011!
wait. you haven't gotten any decision at all? No reserve or ding or accept? You should call doode. The deposit deadlines already passed....bob77 wrote:eee, that is painful... i guess it isn't that much $ in the scheme of 200K+ though, though it is a lot before those loans arrive.patallica22 wrote:Ugh, just painfully put down a deposit at BU too (which was expected considering I'm waitlisted everywhere)...
i want to call to see wtf goin on, but i contacted them a couple weeks ago, so i don't want to upset them by bothering them in case they are still holding on to me for some reason...

Re: Columbia 2011!
Alright at least I know I'm dinged.....I finally broke and called and they told me something had been sent to me via U.S. mail on 4/25.
Not official of course, but there you have it....a ding that is lost in the mail REALLY hurts.

They are totally nice when you call, and given the circumstances I am sure they have your decision. I called a couple weeks back when I had a scholarship deadline and they were completely willing to give me a status update over the phone (not a decision, but an update about how that decision would reach me-- i.e. wait for the email).

Re: Columbia 2011!
Still haven't received the ding letter.... as a fun side note, the guy from admissions(very nice) said that it was sent registered mail.
I guess I must have been completely ignorant about what registered mail actually means, because it's the "ultra security" form of U.S. mail that can take 10-14 days to arrive. Meaning it's taking 2 weeks for a letter to get from Manhattan to Queens(where I live).
This is like something out of a sitcom...

I'm another one who hasn't heard a peep since I applied back in January. I emailed them today and was told a letter was sent to me at the beginning of March. They gave me the pdf copy today. It was a Reserve.

Goodness, sorry to hear that.Kallpayoq wrote:I'm another one who hasn't heard a peep since I applied back in January. I emailed them today and was told a letter was sent to me at the beginning of March. They gave me the pdf copy today. It was a Reserve.
Although, unfortunately my delusional mind will interpret that as thinking that whatever is on its way to me is something other than a ding(which is very unlikely).
Maybe I'm just completely naive -- is it standard practice to send all correspondence as highly secured registered mail?

Re: Columbia 2011!
I would guess it's good news. Why would they waste their money on registered mail just to tell you no?patallica22 wrote:Goodness, sorry to hear that.Kallpayoq wrote:I'm another one who hasn't heard a peep since I applied back in January. Haha, see I definitely think it's bad news....maybe I'm just pessimistic.Kallpayoq wrote:I would guess it's good news. But I'm basing that on the fact that almost every acceptance/reserve(I consider reserve good news with my #s) that I've heard about on here has begun with someone receiving an email first...
I think the dude just made up the "registered mail" bit to make me stop rambling, giving him the opportunity to hang up the phone while I began to pause quizically....

Re: Columbia 2011!
Is there anyone on here that still hasn't heard back? I submitted in the first week of Jan.
Not that it matters at this point, I have paid my deposits and know where I am going...but it is a little shitty to just never have gotten a response.

Re: Columbia 2011!
Just called. According to them they emailed me the letter on March 27th, so I requested that they send it again. I am actually looking forward to seeing the rejection so I that my cycle will officially be over.
