Harvard Waitlist 2010

Postby Core » Sat Apr 17, 2010 12:07 pm

All right, let's get off this waitlist. If anyone needs a pair of eyes to review a LOCI, let me know.
According to LSN, Harvard does take a relatively solid amount of people off its WL, so maybe we have a shot.
Any other people with a JR1 on the WL? Any other URMs?

I figure this is a good time to stop lurking. URM, held in March, got the e-mail yesterday.

So, what other schools are you considering at this point? Can I paypal you some funds to hop off my waitlist?

Depends on how much $ you're offering...will it cover my CLS tuition?

I already sent an LOCI, another LOR, and an updated resume and transcripts when I was held. I'm not so sure I have anything new to say. Are you guys in similar boats?

I'm just wondering if there's a point to sending another LOCI if I don't have anything to add to my file.

Waitlisted a few minutes ago. URM, held in feb, no JR1. Will be heading to NYU if I don't get Stanford or Harvard.

Good job starting this thread Core! :D

Good thread.

I'm curious to know if there's any non-trad with relevant WE on this year's WL.

If so, please post about it.

Also from what I understand with or without JR1 or with out without Held status is somewhat irrelevant when it comes to WL's. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

PS - I don't troll on LSN or any other discussion boards. If you peeps know of any older non-trads with WE on the WL, please post about it. Thanks!

Same. I guess I'll send a LOCI when I actually have the time to write the thing. Otherwise, just play the waiting game a little more.

I belong here. I was expecting this... but it's kind of painful to see my yellow dot on LSN amongst so much green in the same spot.

At least it's not rejection! Complete mid-December, Hold February, no JR 1 --> WL Friday. If anything it simplifies my debate about whether or not to defer and work another year, since if I got the call up to the bigs, that choice would no longer exist. If we already sent a Hold LOCI, does it do any good to send a WL LOCI?

I think it was mentioned somewhere (by an hls official) that HLS assumes you are still interested unless you withdraw from the waitlist.

I'm in too. Did anyone notice this in the FAQ's:
The number of applicants on the wait list initially depends on the number who choose to remain on the list. As the summer progresses, some wait list candidates will withdraw from the wait list, reducing its size. If at any time the information we have concerning admitted applicants' enrollment plans suggests we will not be able to admit a substantial portion of those remaining on the wait list, we will decrease the wait list by notifying some candidates that we will not be able to offer them admission. In most years, we have admitted some applicants from the wait list – sometimes quite a few – but we have never been able to admit all applicants on the wait list.

Does this mean they usually end up admitting a substantial number...what do they consider a substantial portion I wonder. I don't expect to get in and I'm definitely happy with where I'm probably going but man do I want it bad.

last year on lsn they admitted like 14 out of 175 waitlisted. a few in may and then a trickle up through august.

Last night I literally dreamt that I spoke with someone from Admissions who told me I would be a much more competitive candidate if I could just increase my monthly Verizon bill...

I'm here as well. Subpar numbers (171, 3.75), good LORs, but, let's be honest, it's the Fulbright that even got me here in the first place, and I have next to no shot of getting off the WL.

I'm considering re-taking in June, but not sure how much it would actually help with this cycle, and I don't know that I want to put law school off for another year.

Find a way to figure out who all the other Fullbright scholars above you are, seek them out, and then compel them one way or another not to go to Harvard. I'll do the same with people with 178+ LSAT's.

Edit: So I don't get in trouble like in Living the Dream, I was joking.

The thought has crossed my mind. :)
