How Jesuit is BC? I was thinking about applying for the PI scholarship now that they keep sending that email but my statement is going to be about wanting to work with the LGBTQ community. Would that go down well?

I would be very surprised if that was from a law student. From what Ive heard the law school (or at least the students in it) are generally progressive

Really disrespectful. I guess that's one of the disadvantages of sharing space with UG dorms. Strangely, a lot of the words the vandals wrote aren't really LGBTQ-related words. They're just a bunch of random sex acts/words.

Agreed - and to get back to danitt's original question, in light of this incident, I think it might even HELP your scholarship app to write about this topic. Right now, BC is probably really interested in proving that they are fully supportive of the LGBTQ community.

I come from a Jesuit school and I think the Jesuits are not conservatives at all. The LGBT community on our campus was big and very accepted by the school and by the Jesuits who live and teach on campus. Moreover, some Jesuits are gay. Going into a Jesuit school I knew nothing about it and was afraid of forced religion and conservatism. In my exprience it was the complete opposite and I am actually a big believer in the Jesuit mission now. One of my LOR is from a Jesuit who was my history professor and he's incredible (and gay, not that it matters. Just for reference cause you were talking about LGBT issues).

If Cal or UCLA are your dream schools, take a year off to gain work experience, retake, reapply. It's only one year of your life. Only go to a school you're willing to have 200k debt for.

+1. It would be very stupid to go to BC if you want to live in California. Are you a new englander? Have you ever been to New England in the winter? It's very different from California, both in spirit and the tangible stuff.

Go to BC if you want to get a job in Boston or New England and live there for 5+ years. BC can get you elsewhere, but the odds are stacked against you.

Retaking and going to UCLA would be smart, especially considering how easy it is to get your LSAT up a few points.

I have to say that if I get accepted a huge part of my inclination to attend over other peer schools/similar ranked schools (I'm already accepted to W&L) is the fact that BC is a Jesuit school.

I've heard modern Jesuits tend to the more liberal religious side, and this confirmation is a good thing. I would certainly prefer a more collegial, social justice minded law school over a more prestigious, academic-heavyweight school.

Thankfully, it seems like BC might be a mix of both and at least some of that must arise from their Jesuit tradition.
