Wait a second, did people write a Why BC essay?

I wrote one for my application (I thought it was pretty good and touched upon an outside interest and how it would be amplified by a BC legal education) but there was no place to put it. The "Optional" part was something about overcoming socioeconomic, or cultural circumstances, which I haven't.

Did people just attach their Optional Essay there? Should I notify the admissions department and send it it asking them to consider it part of my application?

I hope I didn't confuse/scare people! For the Why BC part, I meant like catering your PS to BC. I don't think there was a spot to put it on the application. If you're seriously concerned, a LOCI might help...I suppose I can email and ask...I'll try and see and get back to you guys. Don't panic!

If I were you I would write a note to Rita Jones, dean of admission and mention how much you want to come to BC and what it means to you. At the same time though, it looks like the reason some of us have been held isn't so much because of YP purposes but because they're just slow. Does anyone know if the people who have already been admitted were September/October applicants? I submitted in mid-November myself. Maybe this is just how long it takes to get through the 6k applications they receive. I just don't want to make myself look desperate by submitting a LOCI before being WLed when the reason for the delay is just that they're slow.

I mean it's tailored to BC, and does express why I want to go/think it's the perfect fit for me, I just don't think they'd want to read another "essay". Just don't want to waste this thing; spent a good amount of time on it...

Disclaimer: while I have a contact, by no means am I the BC Law admissions know-all

But, based on what I was told this morning I think 1. Maybe format your essay into a letter? and 2. Since she said that often there is a LOCI already in the file when she reads it, I don't think it would hurt to send one in. I myself will be mailing one by the end of the week.

I guess use your best judgment - if you submitted last year and haven't moved, and especially if you have high numbers for BC, then send it. But if you just went complete recently - relax. Since she's on December apps herself, I think Elendil and pedroia are right - they are SLOW.

Does anyone else have a mailing date without a descriptor?

I have a "Password E-mail Sent XX/XX/2011" but above that I have an empty field followed by the date 1/31/12.

I haven't gotten anything in particular from BC. Anybody know what that is? My last UR listed is 1/6.

My application has been at complete for weeks without movement. Brutal honesty--is this a bad sign? I know the admissions comm has tons of applicants at this point in the cycle, but I have also heard that schools often snatch up students they want after a first read...
