If you do not hear back by next Tuesday, then you will not be in this week's batch.
If you do not hear back by May 1, then you are waitlisted or denied.
That is how it is going to happen. Everything else is speculative, so I hope this concrete information helps.
wait...they are notifying AFTER May 1 for waitlists/denies?? that is ridiculous. i thought all files would have a decision by May 1.
Based on my conversation(s) with the admissions staff members, this is my understanding...
They have a much more thorough review process than nearly ALL law schools (apart from perhaps Northwestern), and due to the extensive review each applicant's file receives, it is tough (I'm sure) to get all of their decisions out by April 1. I'm sure this is even more difficult given the fact that they probably receive applications worthy of consideration right up to the deadline.
Seeing as how they have received thousands of applications this year, it is not a huge surprise that it would take them up until May 1. I understand the frustration with seat deposit deadlines passing all around us, and the agonizing wait, but it does seem like they are nearing the finish line.
I can't imagine they have too many more acceptance letters to send out, but here is what I gathered through my conversations:
- One more batch of acceptances was supposed to go out before this week ended, but due to Good Friday, will likely be out next Monday or Tuesday.
- We already saw a batch go out on 4/2, and if the above holds true, we'll see another on 4/9
- I was told they had "decisions" going out up until May 1. I then asked if I did not receive a decision by May 1, would it be safe to assume that I had been waitlisted or denied, and my assumptions were affirmed.
- Thus, although it is a little speculative, I am guessing they have one batch going out per week up until that May 1 deadline. Then, anyone who has not heard one way or another by that date can expect a waitlist or denial letter shortly there after.
All of us still waiting are in the same boat and all we can do now is wait patiently. I just wanted to share what I learned through my conversations with the admissions office to hopefully offer some hope to those of us who
are still waiting.
I hope that anyone using this forum that has received a decision (of any kind) would be willing to share the dates of those decisions, as well as their stats, as this is truly the only non-speculative, helpful information at this point.
Best of luck to everyone, and congrats again to those who have been accepted in the fall!
