So they aren't even that good at YP. Ha!
Their Yield Rate of 28 percent puts them right about even with the other Middle T14s (UVA,
Chicago, Michigan, etc.)

at the info session i went to, the admissions rep said about 250 or so apply ED. they stressed that acceptance rates are the same for ED and RD...buttt I bet that a) the app pool is slightly less competitive for ED and b) theyre not counting people who get deferred then in maybe?? just a (rather optimistic) thought.

See what I was talking about when I said US News is starting to distort younger people/and those who don't know about law school's perception of Chicago? You now have people classifying a school that is only out placed by HYS (and barely out placed by Stanford at that) into the same group as Penn and UVA. Making it even worse they actually are so sure that their assertion of Chicago as a "middle" top 14 that they are calling you a troll. Chicago needs to get on the ball with this US News thing, even though the people who count the most in the short term (hiring partners, law firms, government agencies, legal academics) know it's on a par with Columbia many current applicants do not.
What's really bad is that that poster said Chicago was a middle top 14 on par with UVA and Penn, with such certainty that people who are looking for honest information, and don't realize that that poster doesn't know what they are talking about, will take them seriously.

my comment had nothing to do with the placement of chicago in or not in with MVP

Where have most RD applications been sitting recently?
Mine seems to have just switched to 'Under Committee Review', so I'm wondering what that means for a decision timeline.
Thoughts?

Gah.
You got to me before I could come back and delete what's already been mentioned 20x. So much for my impatience going unnoticed.
Thanks HH - back to the waiting then.

At the info session I went to in February, they told us that they accepted about 15 ED applicants that year. 15/250 = 6% = approximately the normal acceptance rate.

I'm not ED, but I just want to see some triangles on the LSN graph, dammit.

wow that is super low...15 out of 250? there's plenty of people on here with great numbers who went ED.

you'd think their love of YP would encourage them to take way more ED kids. it might shake out differently this cycle with people worried about ITE. maybe penn will want to lock up a lot more numbers instead of worrying they'll deflect to someplace like duke that will give them cash.

Are you shitting me? It is a middle T14 (it is not #1, 2 or 3 is it?, it is also not #12, 13 or 14 right?) I was giving some useful information and I only listed those three because those were the first three schools whose yield rate I looked up. My information was regarding Yield Rate not its ranking. And Chicago's yield rate is right around 28%.

My theory would be as follows:
The quality of ED applicants is slightly lower. So while they reject/WL more out of that pool, the need for YP is obviously absent, thus evening it out to roughly the same acceptance rate.
However, isn't 6% well below their actual acceptance rate?

Yep. Complete 10/23, UR 11/11, UR again 12/3. RD.
I've been focusing so much on Berkeley and Michigan I keep on forgetting about Penn and UVA.
