My apologies - I just looked back and got confused. I was first deferred and then reserved. A few deferred kids were accepted in february and the rest of us were reserved. Oh yes I remember Cornell taking in many EA deferrees in January/February.T20hopeful89 wrote:My apologies - I just looked back and got confused. I was first deferred and then reserved. So quiet... I bet that a flood of reserve admits will occur between today and next Friday June 14. Any takers?
This would be similar to the wave of reserve admits that happened in 2009.
By the way, search "cornell purgatory" and you'll get the reserve thread for cornell from 2009. It's an interesting read and I think/hope that this is what we'll see coming up.

At this point, I'm so apathetic I don't even care to venture a guess. :-P As long as it's before the end of the month, I'm cool.chraruce wrote:So quiet... I bet that a flood of reserve admits will occur between today and next Friday June 14. Any takers?

It's barely up- 43 more people applied this year than last year:RetakeFrenzy wrote:NO!!!!!thatjuanguy wrote:Cornell just released that their app numbers were up this year.Where did you find this info?

Re: Cornell c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Damn, I was vouching on increased probabilities of a positive Cornell outcome for me due to the decreasing size of the law school applicant pool (with the implied weaker applicants available to fill up Cornell's class, as compared to previous years). This totally ruins my hopeful and delusional estimates.amitty1019 wrote:It's barely up- 43 more people applied this year than last year:RetakeFrenzy wrote:NO!!!!!thatjuanguy wrote:Cornell just released that their app numbers were up this year.Where did you find this info?

Thanks for the info, this makes the decision-making easier for me and has allowed my mental sanity to come back.

EA --> deferred --> reserved --> In.
Somehow, after all this time, it became a bit less exciting?
Am I reading the letter properly that we need to tell them if we're going by monday?! How can they expect us to decide in 1 business day? My understanding is that you could let them know that you intend to enroll, but not yet pay your deposit....anyone read it differently?

It does seem that way. Looks like intent to enroll due Monday but $900 due ASAP (very vague). So we have to send in NeedAccess/FAFSA info today in the hopes we hear back by Monday? RidiculousT20hopeful89 wrote:EA --> deferred --> reserved --> In.

You should have already sent NeedAccess and FAFSA to all schools you were waiting to hear from.sideoffries wrote:It does seem that way. Don't know what to tell you since I highly doubt they'd be able to make you an FA offer Monday. Maybe call them Monday and tell them you can't commit until you hear about aid. After all, you have NYU in the bag.
I'm assuming they'd be willing to wait since it would be stupid of them to admit you and then force you to decline--it hurts their yield.

I just checked NeedAcess and FAFSA, and luckily I had sent Cornell my information earlier.Lavitz wrote:You should have already sent NeedAccess and FAFSA to all schools you were waiting to hear from.sideoffries wrote:It does seem that way. Somewhat to your second point, the PDF acceptance package states, "We will not be able to extend the deposit deadline to accommodate submission of financial aid application materials."

Which is stupid.sideoffries wrote:Somewhat to your second point, the PDF acceptance package states, "We will not be able to extend the deposit deadline to accommodate submission of financial aid application materials."
I think Columbia does that too: "We may not be able to show you your financial aid package before our deadline." Something like that. Personally, I would contact them and ask them about it, and if they're really inflexible, I would pick NYU at sticker over Cornell at ???.

E-mail that was super not exciting. I skimmed it and couldn't even tell if I'd been accepted at first, because I skimmed over the one sentence that said "we are inviting you to join us" in the middle of the paragraph. There was a pdf attachment of the packet. I think I just have become jaded, but hopefully the rest of you will hear soon, too!

Thanks! It's mostly just overwhelming, as usually you're given about a week to decide, but I think we can buy ourselves some more time by not sending a deposit immediately (they say asap - whatever that means).

Spoke with admissions. "Reserve files are being read as we speak" is what I was told.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
