Good find. Not great news, but not bad news either really. It could also be a blip like last February (and it's smaller than that one).
To really help shed light on the rest of this cycle, we'll need to see the score bandwidth data.
ETA: Actually, I'm recalling that last December's numbers were probably even lower than they should have been because of the inclement weather, which may have helped lead to the February bump (anyone else have info on this?). If everyone who intended to take the December test last year had been able to, this year could maybe have been less than last year.

Went UP? That's shocking.
Granted it isn't indicative of anything since last February went up only to plunge back down June and September.

Any info on new vs retakes?
It could also be that people are being more selective of when and where they apply (leading to more retakes in hopes of higher stats)

I wish LSAC had a centralized status checker. With some exceptions (thinking of Columbia at the moment), most schools use LSAC's server/forms for their status checkers. It's annoying to have to wade through each school's website to find the status checker for only that application. Why can't LSAC just centralize this and/or have a page that changes - or sends you an email! - whenever a school updates your status?
Very frustrating.

I did that originally, but I got error messages when I went to bookmarks of the actual status checker. I guess I should bookmark the law school pages that have the status checker link on them... but still, this seems really roundabout for 2014. Comeon LSAC, put my $28 to use.

I have a Google doc with all the links to the admissions pages featuring the SC link. Just have to pull that up and click through it.
ETA: To me, the more pressing improvement would be for schools to have a more standard nomenclature and use procedure with the status checkers. The differences in the ways that the schools use them to communicate with applicants makes them vary widely in value for us on TLS (where we can all compare notes and establish expectations), and must be nearly valueless for applicants who are going it alone and don't see the shared knowledge we have here.

I wouldn't even include S and UVA once you go complete IMO.

So is the consensus that NYU is trying to see if they can YP a bunch of people this year? I see no reason why some of you DLS nevers still haven't gotten the call.

Maybe. I figured that would matter even less this cycle because schools would be so desperate for numbers. Hope they know what's good for them and send the DLS never fam some good news before y'all sour on NYU completely.

This scared me, but the raw difference is only 222 more Dec takers than last year. Like others have said, not good news but also not bad news.

+180. Consolidated status checker would be so much simpler (or an app).

I don't remember precisely, but there were a lot of weather problems for that test also, which is why peeps speculated the Feb test that year was a false increase.
Oh I see. So if anything, the Dec test last year 'should' have been higher, which in turn means that this most recent Dec test is probably lower than last year, since the actual numbers are so close plus accounting for the weather from last year (however I may have just confused myself lol, not sure if this speculation makes sense).

Yeah, for those who are aiming for T14's, thats statistically only about 6 or 7 more applicants with competitive LSAT scores. I don't think that's keeping anybody out of their dream school.

You just have to right click on the schools page link to the checker, "copy link address" and then edit the bookmark to make that the URL.

Doesn't work for Georgetown though. They use some kind of javascript code that I haven't cared enough to try to work around yet. So I just bookmarked the page their status checker link is on.
