I read that letter the same way. It seemed somewhat cold, atleast for an acceptance letter. Let's hope scholarship info follows in the coming weeks/months.casualty wrote:Received my acceptance letter by mail today. Out of state, 3.38/171. They told me what my tuition would be. Does this mean that I won't be getting any merit dough? Has anybody received scholarship information?

So glad everyone else is having the same experience with the acceptance letter. Just got mine today, and no mention of scholarship money.

Don't worry about no mention of scholarship in the letter, they basically just tell you if you are resident or not in the first letter. Scholarship info will come later 1-2 weeks.

I applied last tuesday. I signed up for Georgia's status checker thing, should it be showing up in the next few days that I do have an application sent in? Right now it just says no app, wait 5 days.

Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
I applied 11/29, signed up for the status checker on 12/8 (at which point it said my app was in review) and received an email later on 12/8 to inform me about the status checker.

My application has been reviewed and is being held for further review.
Anyone know what that means?

So is being "held for review" considered a bad thing? or is it good that they didn't just throw me on the waitlist? I'm dying to go to UGa... so this is a little disappointing

Checker just updated to "held for further review." I am in-state and 75>GPA>50 and LSAT=75. And I have good softs... UGA was a very high choice for me, and this is a little weird...

Yeah. UGA is going nuts this year. They're going after 166+ LSAT scores. I don't know how long they are going to get away with this, though.zreinhar wrote:Checker just updated to "held for further review." I am in-state and 75>GPA>50 and LSAT=75. And I have good softs... Barbie, once again congrats on UIUC, I wasn't able to get in myself, but congrats to you! Is your cycle basically over now? Or are you going to see how $$ shakes out?Barbie wrote:Yeah. I think UGA is still pretty psyched about the rankings jump last year, and given how cheap the school can end up being (~50k for instate and ~80k for OOS) they're app pool has probably vastly improved over the last few years. I'm prob going to end up in DC anyways for work, but if that falls through UGA is a really god option for me to state in GA

Yeah UGA is a great deal. I'm from northern GA so its always been a dream school of mine. It seems like they don't want me haha. and thank you!! UIUC is a dream come true
I'm going to visit Illinois for the first time next month so I'm very excited and hope I take well to the school!

Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
this 166+ business is only sustainable if they get a HUGE influx of them with corresponding high* GPAs.. but at the same time those kids are getting into better schools i.e. emory comes to mind who provide better prospects to UGA's nearest secondary market. I think the first wave has passed and they will come down in the next, but hey thats just my prediction -- i could care less if you disagree with me

Re: Georgia 2011 Applicants
it would be nice if 166 is the magic number, even with my gpa. Dec10 scores cant come soon enough, all this waiting on whether or not i missed 1 or 2 more questions is killing me...

Just got a scholarship notification from Dean Rollins. Add that to in-state tuition and it's going to very difficult to make any other decision. I will definitely need to visit - both impromptu and for Admitted Day to assess my feelings!

Go see Coenen's class if you go outside of ASD. It's probably the best one to see of the list of professors that allow it(though that list hasn't been updated for next semester, he has an open door policy). If anyone wants more detail about who to see/avoid, they can PM.NonTradHealthLaw wrote:Just got a scholarship notification from Dean Rollins. Snail mail postmarked 12/23. I'm 60 miles away, so probably one of the earlier of this batch.beatrock wrote:

No. Here is a link to the academic calendar(I'd hate somebody to drive up here and find out it's spring break!)NonTradHealthLaw wrote: Thanks for the tip! I'll be pming you. Are classes in session for MLK?
