Before I found this forum I was just happily going about my life knowing I'd some day get an answer from law schools. Now I'm frequently checking these forums and admissions blogs, getting anxious about when or if I'll get my "JS2", when I have absolutely no control over it. Nothing I do will make the decision come any sooner or later, so why, oh why.... The neuroticism in these forums is contagious.

By Friday night there will either have been a semi-large wave of JS2's, or a 60 Minutes special on how Harvard Law has decided to close down.

Hehe true. I imagine in the pre-TLS era, we would have just sat around twiddling our thumbs and playing Snood to pass the time...And now here we are performing statistical analyses to predict the admissions office's next move. Sigh. Simpler times.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Speaking of neuroticism, last year the first ASW was on March 8th-10th. This year, it's on March 7th-9th. Basically, the same date. The last big JS2 wave before the ASW was February 20th, so I guess they gave roughly two and a half weeks for this group to prepare for ASW. Theoretically, we could see no movement until mid-February...
(Although I doubt it will take that long)
ETA: That was premature - I'm not actually sure if those 2/20 JS2 waves were even able to attend the first ASW or not...

If that's the case, we will need to hear more sooner because there have not been many acceptances at all whereas I can remember quite a few people accepted last cycle in January.

I like that train of thought psych! The assumption about how many people report on LSN now vs. the end of the cycle is the only thing that is giving me pause (you mentioned it's dicey). I wonder if we could estimate even extremely roughly what that number is?
Regardless though, HLS is behind and will need to catch up eventually.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I really quickly looked at LSN from last cycle, and think that your 50% estimate might be pretty close, if not generous! Only looking at people from last cycle who updated their profiles within the last 9 months (essentially, updating it with dates near or at the end of the cycle rather than as they receive news) showed 72 acceptances (for last year). Approximately 144 if you assume the previous year was similar. 144 acceptances were 'hidden' during the cycle out of 306, which is just under 50%! This doesn't include people who kept their profiles up-to-date but just private throughout the cycle though... No idea what that number would be.psychmusic wrote:I'm sure it's been mentioned already, but looks like the first real devastating round of dings went out mid January for the past two years. This lsn account makes me especially nauseous- http://lawschoolnumbers.com/kazooie.
In the last 2 years, about 54% of the total acceptances reported on LSN were in Nov, Dec, and Jan (164 reported across the two years). 1776 people were accepted over those two years, and 306 were reported on LSN, meaning 17.23% reported their acceptances on LSN. Assuming only 50% of people who will ultimately report having been accepted on LSN have already reported (which is probably the diciest assumption here), that means that there have been 8.3 times fewer acceptances so far this cycle than in the past two. To get back to on par with previous cycles, 421-422 people would have to be accepted this month, and 72-73 would likely report on LSN (or 35-36 immediately and another 35-36 at the end of the cycle).
Assuming JS spends 1.5 minutes on the phone with each acceptance (?), she'd have to make 10hrs and 33mins worth of calls by the end of the month...
I recognize this analysis is almost completely useless because the sample on LSN is absolutely skewed, and I'm making some assumptions that are likely just not true.

Is there anywhere on here to find info about the interview questions? I have an upcoming JS1 and am trying to prep.

Even taking into account the lateness in sending application, this seems really too extreme

however, very late application, below-median gpa, plus, i'm assuming, some at-best-unappealing-and-at-worst-offensive soft factors all point straight to waitlist hell.

also, tbh, I doubt we can make many predictions at this point for harvard. they're obviously not following any pattern from previous years, so we'll just have to wait and see. the "literally never" people may have had it right here.
