I cyber stalked pert and found that he is in undergrad and his W/E is prior to college. NU counts post grad only.

I think it goes a little overboard with requiring it. But its the niche the school is targeting.SaintClarence27 wrote:I do like that NU puts a premium on WE - I'm 30 and out of undergrad 9 years. Thanks. I mean, I wasn't until I saw the flight prices... they're like $200 and NW gives back $150 (and I have a med school buddy I can hopefully crash with). I've actually never been to Chicago. Affirmative, to some degree. I took three and a half years off and worked. With that said, I was beating out people with college degrees and tons of WE for promotions. If it were post-grad, NU would be nodding and saying, "Sure, by all means." The difference is temporal alone.Desert Fox wrote:I cyber stalked pert and found that he is in undergrad and his W/E is prior to college. NU counts post grad only.

They definitively should. But you are the only rejection in a sea of green and yellow.pertristis wrote:Affirmative, to some degree. I took three and a half years off and worked. Is there anything else funny about your application? Some negative soft? Something has to explain it. NU is fairly numbers based.

Also: did you interview? Did you get into peer schools like Penn, Mich, etc.?Desert Fox wrote:They definitively should. Re: People's College of Law 2010
Out at Michigan, the ubiquitous WL at UVa, in at GULC with $. Penn and Duke are still pending. I did interview. Regarding the negative softs, the short answer is nothing that dissuaded GULC: a speeding ticket and a parking ticket or three. The longer answer is yes, that well could be it, but it's not something to post here. If you want, you can see me response to Sibley's GULC rant in the GULC thread; that'll give you some idea.
I will admit that the NU ding is more of a shock than a heartbreak. Even if I had got in, I would have chosen GULC + $ over NU sticker. I doubted that I would receive anything from them. Still, it leaves me wondering if GULC will be it for the T14.

Re: People's College of Law 2010
NU counts pre-UG work experience if it is legit, and it seems like pert's is. My guess is either something funny in his app, or YP. NU tends not to YP and uses it's waitlist very judiciously (1/4 of people tend to get off it), but this cycle is weird...

It might be something funny on the app judging by the mich and minn rejections. Even GULC WL'd him originally.rayiner wrote:NU counts pre-UG work experience if it is legit, and it seems like pert's is. My guess is either something funny in his app, or YP. NU doesn't seem to YP, and it certainly doesn't do it via rejections.

Re: People's College of Law 2010
GULC's WL was the SPWL. I was the first person off the waitlist, even as others are being put on it. Both the note on the acceptance letter and the speed they sent me merit aid—even as others were being told there wasn't any available—indicates that my SPWL was a YP or them offering me the first spot they had available.Desert Fox wrote:It might be something funny on the app judging by the mich and minn rejections. The Michigan rejection actually seems to comport with several other rejections rendered this cycle. The UVA WL seems par for the course for people who didn't ED.
With that said, there's not something some much something screwy with the application as there is something screwy that happened with the application. Fox, PM if you want to know more.

I know this might not be the right thread for this, but how normal is it for law and medical students to interact at Northwestern? It would be great to fall in love with a wonderful med student. Especially because I keep tearing ACL's and menisci.
