Scholarships at GULC are only need-based, right? Or will they negotiate?

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
I went complete on 1/26. I can't find exactly where I saw this, but iirc Spivey mentioned that the drop in high LSAT scores as well as the continued decline in the number of total applicants would lead to a large(r) number of decisions coming later in the application cycle. As a heavy splitter, I plan on waiting until mid-March before I start sending out LOCI's.Pink26 wrote:I am in the same position I went complete on 1/27 as well as you are I think they are taking longer than usual this cycle I really hope some one can tell us more about thismichiarmen wrote:I applied ED and my application was complete by 1/27. Does anyone have experience discussing on the phone merit aid? A financial aid officer would like to do so with me.

A GULC financial aid officer? I was under the impression they only offered need-based aid?FloridaCoastalorbust wrote:Does anyone have experience discussing on the phone merit aid? A financial aid officer would like to do so with me.

Yes merit aid. They sent the generic email a few weeks ago asking how much cash I wanted and said they wanted to talk about it on the phone.spencercross wrote:A GULC financial aid officer? It doesn't look like they send acceptances in waves to me, but they may for waitlist/deny: http://mylsn.info/d/gulc/1415-NoED/ek5dn wrote:Do you think we're due for some decisions soon? Does Georgetown send out decisions in waves?? ahhh talk to me Georgetown, I'm your biggest fannn haha

It used to look like people could successfully request a username on ASW on Mondays and Wednesdays, but I think the later we've gotten into the cycle, the less regular it's become? And even those wouldn't be classified as waves in the same sense as other schools.ek5dn wrote:Do you think we're due for some decisions soon? Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Despite my super splitter status, I somehow miraculously received the best thin envelope ever yesterday (submitted 2/2, complete 2/9). Now I'm trying to apply for financial aid through the ASW, and I'm stuck on the stage where you're supposed to request a NetID in order to submit the yellow application. Has anyone been able to do this? I feel like I must be missing something.

Since you were admitted recently, your credentials might not be available yet.

Just to confirm, I emailed them about this yesterday because I had the same problem and they told me there was a brief delay in inputting admitted students info and my NetID credentials should be available tomorrow (Wed 2/25).tuxedocat wrote:Ah, there we go! Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Am I the only one that finds GULC's financial aid application process outlandishly onerous? I'm 40 years old and self employed. My parents have been divorced since just a couple of months after I was born (so for 40 years), and I'm estranged from my father. Without jumping through hoops to get special dispensations, for need-based aid GULC requires me to send them:
It's absolutely ridiculous.
- FAFSA application
- Need Access application with info for both parents
- Copies of my 2014 tax forms
- Copies of both parents 2014 tax forms
- GULC's Yellow Form
- A five-page Business/Farm supplement that just repeats a bunch of stuff from my tax forms
It's absolutely ridiculous.

+1 very much. I'm on good terms with my parents, but being well passed 30, I haven't received financial support in well over a decade and find it to be rather embarrassing to have to ask them the details of their finances. And why there are three different forms for the same information is beyond me.spencercross wrote:Am I the only one that finds GULC's financial aid application process outlandishly onerous? And just to request a waiver for my father's info (which they indicate on their FA page are "rarely granted"), I have to "send a statement requesting a waiver indicating the special circumstances. You should also submit a third party letter from someone familiar with your circumstances explaining the special circumstances. A third party may be a letter from your present financial aid office indicating that they omitted your non-custodial parent information to award financial aid, a letter from a clergy member, legal documentation, or counselor."

Same. I had to ask them to do Need Access (although still waiting on a decision from Georgetown, but needed it for other schools) and I was cringing as I wrote the email. Yes, I totally copped out and asked via email, and I am on good terms with both of them.Gray wrote:So much this.hereisonehand wrote: +1 very much. +a million.
And I didn't know that I had to have them submit signed copies of their tax return. I thought I was done asking them for uncomfortable favors.

Anyone know if they extend interview requests to part-time applicants?

Around that much time after my interview over here too. I've given up waiting and interest, and am going to the beach and reading every day. It helpscommandercup wrote:Just about three weeks since my interview. The wait is killing me.
