BenJ - where is Stanford on your list vis-a-vis HY & Columbia?
can you elaborate crackberry? i thought it would indicate that im still holding out for SLS but do you think it would come across as impatient?crackberry wrote:I would not say that.tintin wrote:is it appropriate to say that i have received decisions from everywhere except stanford?
easier said than done, BioE :pBioEBear2010 wrote: Go to Stanford. Escape the cold
That's too bad. At least you know though. That's more than a lot of other people here can say.Proximity wrote:Just received a letter. Lo and behold, a ding.

I might as well have posted this. My thoughts exactly, down to the environmental part. Are you in at CLS/NYU? I don't remember.BenJ wrote:crackberry wrote:Nixxers — would you consider Stanford over Harvard?

Yale/Stanford > Harvard > Columbia/NYU > others (but waiting to see about scholarships)
I would much prefer the smaller school environment of Stanford or Yale, and YS are much better at environmental law than H.
I don't think SLS cares at all about who you have or have not heard from. It's not like they're going to read "I've heard from everywhere but SLS" and think "Oh, wow, ok well we really need to make a decision ASAP then." At best, I think it comes across as impatient. At worst, I think it reeks of entitlement.tintin wrote:can you elaborate crackberry? i thought it would indicate that im still holding out for SLS but do you think it would come across as impatient?crackberry wrote:I would not say that.tintin wrote:is it appropriate to say that i have received decisions from everywhere except stanford?
I think it will make them realize, oh geeze we better get our shit together or we are gonna lose our chance at getting tintin in our class.crackberry wrote:I don't think SLS cares at all about who you have or have not heard from. If you're going to tell them you'll go if admitted, that's way more powerful than telling them you've already heard something from everyone else.

Yes, in at CLS (last week) and NYU (a few weeks ago). Also still waiting on Chicago, Penn and Berkeley (FR), but it would take a lot for me to choose one of them over Columbia/NYU. Some of my softs are really NYC-focused, so I think that helped seal the deal quickly at CN. OTOH, it makes me worried about Stanford perceiving me as East Coaster with no serious interest in the school (not at all true!).crackberry wrote:I might as well have posted this. Stanford knows they are competing over students who will be accepted to Yale/Harvard/Columbia/etc. They want students who want to go there (and trust me, there are MANY people who want to go to Stanford).adameus wrote:I think it will make them realize, oh geeze we better get our shit together or we are gonna lose our chance at getting tintin in our class.crackberry wrote: I don't think SLS cares at all about who you have or have not heard from. Yeah, I really think something along the lines of (but more eloquent than) "After careful research, Stanford has emerged as my top choice for law school; if admitted, I will attend" is a lot more effective than, "Stanford remains the only school from which I have yet to receive a decision."BioEBear2010 wrote:Stanford knows they are competing over students who will be accepted to Yale/Harvard/Columbia/etc. They want students who want to go there (and trust me, there are MANY people who want to go to Stanford).

Yeah, the general admissions e-mail (I think it's admissions@law.stanford.edu).BenJ wrote:BioEBear, you said you e-mailed your LOCI, right? To which email address did you send it? The general admissions email?
Also, should I PDF the LOCI and attached it, or just send it in the body of the email?
Do you know for a fact that they got it, added it to your file, and reviewed it before decision? I'm just asking for the benefit of others on these boards.BioEBear2010 wrote:Yeah, the general admissions e-mail (I think it's admissions@law.stanford.edu).BenJ wrote:BioEBear, you said you e-mailed your LOCI, right? You can do either, but I just put it in the body.
Yes. They said that they added it to my file. I assume the read it at some point, but one can't be sure.CardinalRules wrote: Do you know for a fact that they got it, added it to your file, and reviewed it before decision? I'm just asking for the benefit of others on these boards.
