The lady I spoke with said the same thing, that they are still getting deposits and processing those, causing the delay.

And now their fielding calls from 300+ angry/concerned waitlisters wondering why they didn't get an email yesterday - causing an even greater delay. They could have just sent out a courtesy, "wait a little longer guys" email and saved us and them the trouble/frustration. oh well.

My admitted friends have told me that they are not really cracking down on peoples' second deposit deadlines and are allowing extra time... to our chagrin.

what? omg this is so freaking frustrating. just go ahead and break EVERY rule/promise you ever made GULC. so how much extra time are they allowing admitted students - is this some indefinite extension?!! garr.SummerLaw wrote:My admitted friends have told me that they are not really cracking down on peoples' second deposit deadlines and are allowing extra time... to our chagrin.

Re: GULC 2010 WL'ers
Now I'm gonna turn 180 and say that maybe we should cool our jets a little, if for no other reason than we are now dependent on an entity that is moving too slowly but which is not able to wave a magic wand and speed up the process due to facts on the ground. I mean, we cannot make them go faster, and I now think that it's not quite a matter of people breaking a promise. Breaking a promise suggests that one has willfully neglected a responsibility —or neglected something that may cause a promise not to be fulfilled— but this is just a matter of people not getting their deposits in, period.MissLucky wrote:what? omg this is so freaking frustrating. just go ahead and break EVERY rule/promise you ever made GULC. so how much extra time are they allowing admitted students - is this some indefinite extension?!! garr.SummerLaw wrote:My admitted friends have told me that they are not really cracking down on peoples' second deposit deadlines and are allowing extra time... to our chagrin.
If we all start calling them, or if they happen to stumble on this thread to see how many of us are hoping to tear them a new one, I can't see how that would help the process.
Don't get me wrong, I'm miffed too.

I just learned that "Judge" Marilyn Milian of The People's Court TV Show went to GULC and graduated Cum Laude....does her job qualify as BigLaw? ShitLaw? NoLaw?
She's hilarious as I watch her during daytime TV...Fall can't come quickly enough.

I believe her job qualifies as awesomelaw. You get paid huge sums of money to play judge a few times a week.Regionality wrote:I just learned that "Judge" Marilyn Milian of The People's Court TV Show went to GULC and graduated Cum Laude....does her job qualify as BigLaw? ShitLaw? NoLaw?

Did anyone else just get an email saying all of the spots are spoken-for and we will receive another update by July 1st?

Re: GULC 2010 WL'ers
I assume everyone just received this email from Dean Cornblatt:
Dear [aulburch],
Me again to give you another update on the waitlist situation. At the moment, all of the spaces in the class are spoken-for. However, I will keep you as up to date as possible, and will certainly send you another update by July 1st, if not sooner. And as always I thank you for your continued patience and interest in Georgetown.
Best,
Andy

And that's that. I'm moving to DC at the end of June. I'm gonna arrange for a campus visit in early July (even though only evening classes will be happening). I'll know I have nothing to lose, so it wouldn't hurt to try to win them over with my personality

Is it possible to have your status on the waitlist ie. regular or SPWL change?
I was regular waitlist, but in my email he mentioned that I'm in "a select group that we will turn to again if we have more room."
Was that generic to everyone? Or should I maybe give them a call?

im on the regular wait list, and mine said something about a select group. but nothing about special preferred. I figure this went out to everyone, only because I haven't been in contact with gulc since they gave us regulars the waitlist email address some time ago.
I don't think anything of it, especially because the email said there are no spots. lol.

understandable, just the email that someone copy and pasted earlier didn't include that line (unless they edited it out) so I was just curious.unknownscholar wrote:im on the regular wait list, and mine said something about a select group. but nothing about special preferred. i didnt get any mention of anything special, select, or preferred. just that bland, wholly uninterested and unpromising email that was copied and pasted several posts up. wow they hate me...bearsEATtrees wrote:understandable, just the email that someone copy and pasted earlier didn't include that line (unless they edited it out) so I was just curious.unknownscholar wrote:im on the regular wait list, and mine said something about a select group. but nothing about special preferred.
