I put up the waitlist letter I received (doctored, of course) if anyone wants to see it. It seems like it may have been a ranking thing, as it seems as though the only people who have gone waitlist --> in got the one with Dean Perry's email. But it could just be coincidence.

It's not conclusively coincidence or ranking. Just a nuanced difference between the WL letter and the Hold--->WL letter. Maybe they wanted to give the WLs the first crack at any available seats. Fair enough.

I'm not going to speculate for anyone else, but I am pretty happy to be on the WL.

I don't know if this will help or not, but I also got the "in" call yesterday -- but I was never put on hold or waitlisted. My status checker went to decision pending on 5/1, and I'd gone complete in early Feb. I also have until May 11 to make my decision, which will depend very heavily on their financial aid package...

Congrats, LadyBroseph! There's a "Chicago decision pending May 1" thread in the Law School Admissions Forum that you should post your info in too (you prob already know about it), it'll def be helpful to them.

Received my scholarship offer today: $33,000. So there is money to be had off the waitlist. I'm not sure if its enough to persuade me to take Chicago over Penn. It's slightly smaller than my offer from Penn. I think I might try and persuade Penn to give me an extra few thousand with this award. I doubt it'll work, but it would really help a lot. I'm glad I have til Monday to decide though. It's still not much time to make a big decision, but its something.

I haven't, but I applied late. That said, I am a little confused as to why they're turning to WLs before rendering decisions on all apps they've received. Just doesn't seem to make much sense.

This weekend really isn't a good one for me to have to make a major decision. I'm graduating Monday and have my school's academic awards ceremony on Sunday. So it's going to be a really busy weekend. But yeah, if Penn increases the offer at all, the decision is fairly well made for me. I just sent my appeal to Penn. I'd still probably take Penn regardless of whether they increase my offer, but it would be great to get a little extra.
