I figured I'd start this now. Got Waitlisted after being deferred in early November.
Wonder what my chances are as far as being taken out of the WL by August

What
waitlist were you put on? If you go through old threads you will see that there are like 3 tiers of waitlists at GULC. 1. Special preferred
waitlist 2. Preferred
waitlist 3.
Waitlist. It seemed like most people that got pulled off the
waitlist got pulled from the first 2 groups.

Never understood why they have 3 tier's of waitlists, but I'm on regular. Hoping for the best!

What's the 3rd tier? I thought it was just Preferred/Regular?

Regular WL. I also only heard of two types of waitlist.
Hoping my application updates will push me through.

Previous GULC threads mentioned three tiers: 1. Special preferred
waitlist 2. Preferred
waitlist 3.
Waitlist. Hence, the regular WL (third tier) emails pretty much said "you might as well deposit at another school". There's a non-urm with a 156 on the regular WL this year per the GULC thread.

0L who will be attending Georgetown next year just checking in to wish you all good luck and provide some anecdata:
A buddy of mine with a 169, 2.9x was pulled off the special/preferred waitlist last year. He sent a LOCI via email, visited the campus and set up meetings with faculty and administrators. He was accepted a few days after these visits. He ended up going to some wannabe-ivy, state school in New York that I had never heard of (I believe it's called Cornell).
Another friend of mine with a 3.7 166 was pulled off the waitlist (I'm not sure which one) a few weeks into summer. Ended up going to Miami on a pretty hefty scholarship. He did not visit but did send a LOCI.

Got the held email back in Nov/Dec and received a Preferred Waitlist decision about a week ago. Really hoping to get some good news!

Sent out LOCI offering dropping all other schools and immediate deposit payment. Sent out major application updates, and flying out soon to visit. Fingers crossed.
Anyone have any words of wisdom for making your mark during a visit?

Thanks, will do. Flying in and out all in the same day though, so I hope I'll still feel awake for it all, haha.

Hey all,
So I sent a LOCI back in early January, visited in December. I am out of school so I don't have transcript updates to send to admissions. Does anyone have any advice on what else I might be able to do to maintain contact/show interest? Thanks.

Do you think it's best to send the LOCI asap or wait until you have additional information to update the admissions committee on?
Also, Preferred WL about 3 weeks ago. International applicant so will not be able to visit, but have lived in DC previously and would be thrilled to attend.

Honestly, imo you shouldn't send out anything if you're scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with things to say. If there was something you left off your resume solely because of space constraints, then maybe that depending on what it was.

Just out of curiosity, what are you all going to be doing if you're not let off the
waitlist?
I'm currently applying to full time jobs and have some interviews lined up, but I know I'll feel like a bit of an asshole to say that I'll be waiting on this decision before I accept any offers.
