I applied on 11/12 and was accepted on 12/6.

I think I win the quick Northeastern turn around award.. applied 12/6, accepted 12/9. Numbers are 167/3.1. I got a letter in the mail with scholarship information, $8500k a year. I love Boston and I like Northeastern's co-op program, but unfortunately it may be a bit steep for me, cost-wise, especially if I get into my state school or get offers from other schools.

General consensus is no. And they don't seem to give out a scholarship that is really between $8500 and I think 2/3 tuition. However, it may worth a shot.

As an update: received a very nice phone call today from NE's admissions office, offering contact info and to answer any questions I may have, as well as an offer to hook me up with alum living in/near my area if I have an direct q's.

Looking to apply 3.08/163, about 30-40 hours of volunteering for a social/housing rights NGO in my city. Any chances of my getting the $8,500 with those numbers?

I love Boston and the school's aim as well as the co-op option. I think that students' prospects are better than what is indicated by the numbers. Too bad that the tuition is steep...

You have a chance at getting the $8,500. It's a shame you are applying so late, but get the application in soon! BTW: their co-op program is NOT optional.

The school does much better than it's ranking indicates. The only drawback is that the lack of grades makes it hard to distinguish yourself, especially outside of Boston.

I got in in mid-December with $8,500 a year. Honestly, I don't think it's nearly enough money to convince me to go there. I got into GW and got $24,000 a year at Alabama, and even if the south seems like it will be extreme culture shock, it's ranked waaaaay higher. I do think the co-op program seems really cool though.

(And by the way, think long and hard about Alabama. If you go there, you'll have to work there. For a long time. I was raised in Texas, and am now getting the fuck out. )

Thirded. It's really a shame, because I love the co-op program and want to be in Boston and won't get in to BC / BU. But I'm already in at higher ranked schools and hopeful of money from them / am in-state at UConn where I think I have a strong shot at admission. If I get in there, I feel like I can't really justify Northeastern's higher tuition & COL . With a 1/2 tuition scholarship or more it would have been a strong contender.

I think that there is a consensus that UConn is an amazing school especially given the in-state tuition. The only thing that makes me apprehensive are prospects to practice outside of Connecticut. I have absolutely no ties or interest in the region.

Yeah...That's definitely a concern for me. Especially because my experience with the south is limited to Williamsburg, Va and Disneyworld when I was in high school. I think Alabama has been working really hard to improve their reputation on the west coast, and the Admissions Office did put me in contact with some alumni over here who definitely said things are improving. Also, I did look at the websites of a lot of the big firms that are strongest in the Bay Area and I'd say about half had at least one person from the U of Alabama law school. Def still a concern though. Leaning toward GW.

For Biglaw maybe top 10%, for midsized firms maybe top 30.

Generally UConn places 10-15% into Biglaw, NUSL 8%, Suffolk 4%.

I participated in the admitted students chat...if they'd grant more aid it would be much higher on my list. Maybe they'll negotiate?
