Does the 180 watch break down easily? Forum

I have been using the watch for about a month now. It's pretty good but it stopped working all of a sudden (the needles don't move at all).

Has this happened to anyone else? I am thinking of ordering another one, for almost 60 bucks, but if this break down issue is fairly common, will think twice...

YES. Bloody ripoff. It stopped working properly after like the third time I reset it. It now resets to the 32 second mark instead of the 0 second mark.

Yeah it's pretty much a POS. Just use the stopwatch on your phone for practice and by test day have your timing down to the point where you don't even need a watch. It worked for me.

dont even purchase the gimmick watches..totally pointless.

use this watch...its just a simple casio...that has a bezel in whic you just adjust the marker to where the long hand is and wait for the long hand to hit the 35 mark on the bezel...super easy to turn. no resetting hands on the watch itself, very useful.

I'm glad I saw this post because just recently I noticed my 180 watch was acting up. The watch will run until around the 30 minute mark and then reset back to 0. I would be testing myself and go to check near the end be like there is no way that 5 minutes passed by already! Well at least I know now! The thing is definitely a ripoff.

That's just crazy. And we paid $60 for this?

I am wondering if the malfunction has to do with all the pressure that mechanically rewinding the clock exerts on the clock...

I think the watch is cleverly designed and convenient, but perhaps the ease of manual rewind has a (steep) price to pay.

Has anyone tried to inquire about any possible AS service? I mean, if I buy another one for $60, and the watch breaks down again, what am I supposed to do?

Okay that sounds just crazy. Imagine that happening when you're actually taking the exam....jeez...

My malfunction wasn't that extreme (it just stopped -- I changed the batteries and it still doesn't work).

I’ve used mine on over 20 PTs and its still going strong.... now I’m wondering if I should stop using it until the test in june

I've been using mine for months and it works fine. I had an issue in the beginning where it would reset but not to 0. I emailed them and they taught me how to fix it.

Just set a regular analog watch to 11:25 before each section.

Mine started doing this on the day of the test. There's some sort of fix that's explained in the materials they send you when you get your watch but if you're like me you didn't read those and figured the watch should just work. I didn't get a response from them until after I had taken the test that day without a watch. Thankfully I was alright without it though.
