Best Prep for 165-170 PT with LG focus
I am canceling my score from June and will retake in October. What prep class will drill me the most on logic games. I am so hit or miss with them. The best I can do is miss 4 but sometimes I freak out, run out of time, and miss half of them. That is what happened on the June exam. This is frustrating because I only miss 2-3 per section on LRs and RC. I occasionally get perfects. What online prep will help my logic game speed and confidence?
So far I have done the LG Bible and the PS LG Workbook.

Go to Cambridge LSAT website and just buy every single logic game. Whether you do it by question type or by practice test, the important thing is just to see every single game and get comfortable with them. I think I probably did every published game at least twice, and I probably saw some 5 times (in the LGB, then in Velocity, then in a PT, then when drilling a couple times). I was never a logic games virtuoso like some people on this site, but I did enough of them that I would consistently get -2 or better. I have no idea how I did on the real thing since Feb was undisclosed, but I think I probably was around that -2 number.

I'm in the same boat, I'm a high scorer but LG has always been a crapshoot. Right now I'm photocopying every game I can get my hands on. I'm making three copies and doing all of them. Seems to be helping.

That's exactly what I did. After going through all of the LG in the bible, Velocity, and the PTs I bought 3 times, I just decided to buy the complete set on Cambridge LSAT. It was like 75 bucks. Totally worth it.tfleming09 wrote:I'm in the same boat, I'm a high scorer but LG has always been a crapshoot. Right now I'm photocopying every game I can get my hands on. Is there any sort of a bulk discount for doing this?bernaldiaz wrote:Go to Cambridge LSAT website and just buy every single logic game.

Are you still prepping? You get to use each link three times which leads to a PDF. I don't think I used up all my views. PM me if you want.tfleming09 wrote:Is there any sort of a bulk discount for doing this?bernaldiaz wrote:Go to Cambridge LSAT website and just buy every single logic game.

If you know how to organize well then you just need to get faster.
As I studied there was always a new game on each section I didn't recognize, once I learned how to recognize the patterns and could name by sight the type of game. I would make my simple charts and could easily answer all of the questions. When I didn't run out of time I would consistently get a -0. However, closer to test day I found I kept running out of time on the last game.
So if you have a system to easily answer all the questions, you should just practice until you are fast enough. If you think your system could be better, I recommend velocity. Velocity made the games appear so simple that I felt stupid that I didn't realize the methods myself.
Either way, good luck!

To the OP, I think you need to change how approach LGs before you go on a binge and do each LG 3 times. Don't use a method that doesn't work! Here I go again acclaiming VLSAT. So good. Dave makes things so simple, that you're wondering how come you never did it like that previously.

Did you use velocity for other sections as well?

I was in a similar position to yours. I'm a multiple retaker. On past administrations and during study, I would miss ~4 answers between the LR and RC sections combined, but score < 171 because of getting ~9 LG wrong.msquaredb wrote:I am canceling my score from June and will retake in October. So far I have done the LG Bible and the PS LG Workbook.
I highly recommend Velocity's online LG course. Before taking the test on Monday I studied via Velocity for the 3 months. I'm fairly confident that I rocked the LG this time and am hoping for 175+ on the test. (Obviously, I could be wrong.)
I would not recommend just doing every game three times without getting some more instruction--I had tried that in the past and it did not help on its own.
Velocity's method was great for me. It really taught me to internalize the patterns of the games and to methodically attack the section. Even though I only bought the LG course, Velocity helped me on the other sections as well: you get 12 practice tests and complete video explanations for all the sections on those tests. Watching them helped get me to very confidently score a combined -1 LR over two sections, sometimes -0.
Obviously I need to wait for my score for this recommendation to have its full weight. But I strongly strongly recommend it.

Thanks for this. Your advice really hits home for me because our situations are extremely similar. Looks like tonight I will probably register for the October LSAT and Velocity.BalanceCare wrote:I was in a similar position to yours. I'm a multiple retaker.
