Thoughts on retake/using old PTs?

Post by westinghouse60 » Sat Aug 20, 2011 7:41 pm

I'm currently debating an October retake of my June 167 (which was almost exactly my PT average) so I decided to, for the first time since the June test, take 2 PTs (not on the same day). These were old PTs I had used before, but here were the results:

PT 29- 1st attempt (sometime before June test, don't know exactly when): 165. New: 174
PT 30- 1st attempt: 167. New: 175

I got to the 170-172 range about 1/3 of the time while prepping for the June test, so this is absolutely huge for me, and fairly convincing evidence for me to retake in October. However, I'm wondering to what extent I'm seeing these results simply because I'm using old PTs; I have reused old ones before (not these ones exactly), but never seen anything like this kind of improvement. (I might go up 2-3 points, but that was it). There are still a few PTs I don't own that I haven't looked at yet, but I want to make a decision to retake before I go out and buy another set.

Any thoughts/opinions on this?
