Atlas vs. PowerScore
The first administration I took I did so cold (and a little hungover), and received a much-deserved 151.
About six months later, the LSAT bug bit hard. I went through each PS book, and with a lot of studying and too much coffee, got myself consistently hitting somewhere between 163-167. But for the last month of my studying, I plateaued, never really improving beyond my range.
I took the October administration and got a 161 (I'm not complaining, my room was the only classroom in America without a clock, and I didn't think to bring a wristwatch), so that's fine, but I'm really gearing up for December. In all my LSAT obsession, I can't believe I never heard of the Atlas series, but it's been mentioned in previous threads as more geared toward those trying to eek out the last points of their potential. I feel like I've gone as far as I can with PS, should I switch?
Before I unload the bills on the Atlas books, how do they compare with PS? Is it a waste of money and I should review what I know or should I try take a crack at Atlas?

Re: Atlas vs. PowerScore
Atlas > PS
Although the PScore voters might inflate the poll since I imagine a slough of TLSers have done Powerscore, but few have done both.
For LR, PS does a little better introduction in to arguments, but Atlas is far superior in tackling questions, their RC is superior, and I highly recommend Atlas LG over the LGB.
I was a 161 diagnostic, took the test once while using Kaplan / Pscore materials. (Not mutually exclusive, I used Kaplan's course PT's + the bibles to dissect answers).
My high PT doing this was a 168, after doing the Atlas LRGuide + 1/2 of the games and a couple of their courses I scored a 172. My PT's since have been 169,168,173,174. (173 & 174 both taken after finishing the course + guides) Definitely an upward trend considering my highest score prior was a 168
I'm one satisfied buyer. If you have the money, why not just buy both. It's not like they cost as much as a course in themselves.

I took PowerScore and made a +18 pt increase from diagnostic to the real thing in a short time frame: 3 months.

Taking the course isn't the same as comparing the strategy guides for each section.

Re: Atlas vs. PowerScore
Did PowerScore, about to do Atlas. PowerScore didn't help much so I'm hoping Atlas will. We will see.
For what it's worth there seem to be several Atlas employees who are active posters, so I take some of the Atlas recommendations with a grain of salt.

I'm considering getting the LG from atlas. Read the one form Powerscore...was great....I just need a little more to get -0 on it. Should i just practice more on PT's?

I don't even know what you're talking about.typ3 wrote:neonx wrote:I took PowerScore and made a +18 pt increase from diagnostic to the real thing in a short time frame: 3 months.

I took the full-length PS course (August 11-October 6), and it was primarily my means of studying for the LSAT. It helped boost my score. Simple as that.

The OP is asking a comparison between the two study guide series of the two companies.
I'm sorry, but the powerscore class isn't the same thing as buying the bibles. In this case, to compare apples to apples, the comparison that needs to be made is between the PS Bibles and Atlas Guides. (They really need a name like bible or something to differentiate themselves.)
