Atlas LR and RC guides

Post by CurlyKat » Tue Oct 12, 2010 3:39 pm

Hi there, I have searched the forum for Atlas, but it seems that most comments focus on their games guide and strategy or the online course. Does anyone have any insight on their LR and RC guides please?
I have the LR bible and even though it helped me a lot at the beginning of my prep, I think that the LR is changing noticeably and the bible is just not getting me any further with my score. Just when I got to the point of consistently getting -1 or -2, the question type distribution changed and I keep missing certain types of questions- assumption and justify the conclusion (back to -5 or -6) :-( Does anyone have experience with the Atlas LR guide? (Do you think it's worth the money if I've already read the bible twice?)
What about the RC guide?? I haven't tried the bible, but I haven't heard the best things about it, so I'm leaning towards Atlas.. any advice?

I've used all 6 of the books you referenced. I think that the Atlas RC and Games guides are 10/10, whereas Powerscore treatment of the material are an 8/10. However. I wouldn't recommend avoiding Powerscore. I'd say first use Powerscore, then build on that knowledge with Atlas. That being said, at this point in your study another guide should not take the place of sheer quantity.. make sure you've done every released game a few times and ever LR problem once, saving all the ones you get wrong and re-doing them frequently.

For RC, I would give the RC bible a 2/10. It is neither helpful nor insightful. However, I give the atlas RC guide an 8 or 9 out of ten.

That's a great reply! Thank you! I have done many many PTs, I only have the first 13 tests, PT 59 and superpreps left. My problem is that I can't do anything twice because I remember all the answers.. (I review tests after I do them.. ). I remember the damn RC topics, even the games... first time my memory is a problem! I need to find a way to increase my score without burning through more PTs. I need to find the problem with my brain that is keeping me from reaching a competitive score.. I hope Atlas can help me look at the questions differently and build up on what I've learned from the bibles.
