Curve Predictions

Postby honestabe84 » Mon Jun 07, 2010 7:31 pm

Also comment on the sections.

I thought LG was pretty damn hard.
First LR was a piece of cake.
Second LR was somewhat difficult.
RC was average.

LG was difficult but not more so than the past few tests.
LRs were easier I thought.
RC was about on par, not as difficult as 59, but still challenging.

Really? The mapping game didn't faze you? I thought the third and fourth games were hard as hell.

The intern game was very hard, but not more so than dinosaurs or buses.

There must have been some special way to attack the mulch game, but I sure as hell didn't get it.

Personally, LG was pretty average, RC was pretty average, and if I have the experimental figured out, one LR was pretty damn easy and one was pretty damn hard.

I'd say -11 or -10.

First LR was pretty normal, second one had a few tricky questions (and I was also exhausted)

Games were strange... first two were easy, mulch threw me off but wasn't too hard, and the intern game killed me, I ended up guessing on the last three.

RC I thought was way easier than recently, but probably just because the passages were interesting.

Does anyone know how many questions were in the third and fourth game?

I destroyed Dinos and Buses. This game killed me.

Fourth game had 6 questions. I know because I took the time to count exactly how many questions I guessed.

Both LRs were manageable, but one was slightly harder than the other. RC was okay, but I'm sure I missed a few. I was upset when I saw the real RC because I knew that meant the other was experimental (and I destroyed the exp. RC). I probably missed 3-4 RC. Sigh...

GOOD. Finally someone who doesn't think LR was a complete breeze.

The LG had some tough games but I figured them out.. I think a lot of people probably struggled with the last two.
LR was unusually easy (there were only two or three particularly difficult questions)- LR is typically my worst section so we'll see what happens..
The last two passages for RC were kinda tough, the first two were a little easier.

This may make me sound like an idiot, but after that FREAKING test I feel like an idiot, so I guess it doesn't really matter. How does -11 (currently the leader) predict the curve? The curve is going to be a big factor for me.

I thought this one was tough as heck. The toughest PT I've done was 56, which has a -11 curve. I don't think I have any with a lower raw score for 170. Can anyone point me to one with a lower 170?

Edit: i.e., higher curve (missing more than 11, since I didn't know the terminology before reading this post myself)

How Many Questions To Score 170/160 contains the "curves" for every PrepTest.

Unless you only have a few PTs, you probably have several with a more generous curve than -11 but just don't realize it.

Thanks for that. Looks like writer made a few booboos (for instance, PT43 is actually a -11/25, rather than 12/26(, but still helpful.

I bought mine off of someone else, and, as a freak coincidence, the most generous curve I have (right now) might be -11). I'm considering picking up 45 or 59 to compare to yesterday's. On each section, I knew I wasn't performing as well as I would have liked, so I kept focusing on that in subsequent sections. By the time I got to the last RC section, I was as focused on the question of canceling as I was on the passage and questions. I got half-way through one of the passages and realized I had no idea what I'd read. Blind-guessed at least six questions on that section alone - maybe eight. I usually don't guess more than two or three for RC.

I've done the math, and this one doesn't look good for me.

Sorry to hear you had trouble with the RC on yesterday's exam.

I've double-checked on PT43 and can confirm that the "curve" is -12/-26. (There were 101 questions on this exam.)

If you find any other discrepancies, please feel free to PM.

Sorry to ask a noob question but this curve means what?

The -# means that if you missed that # you got a what? 170? 165?

Edit: nevermind, think I got it. # is max you get incorrect to break 170. Carry on.

The Luis Valdez RC was quite difficult. I noticed that I had like 7:40 or so left to tackle the last RC (which, thankfully, was a lot easier than the Valdez one), when, usually, I'm at 13-14 minutes.

I usually finish LG with 10-15 minutes left and that last Game (the intern game) was pretty difficult at first so I was somewhat surprised that I had 2 minutes remaining in the section when I was finished.

As for LR: I felt like both sections didn't display the usual ramping up of difficulty that you notice...instead, there seemed to be random challenging ones throughout (like the identical twins one and a few horrible parallel reasoning questions).

Bottom line: I found myself in time problems on almost every section of the test when I usually finish with a comfortable amount of time to spare and go back and check more challenging questions...

Same here, Alan Rickman, the parrallel ones seemed particularly difficult to me yesterday! I usually perform moderately on such questions, but those cost me some time!!

Sorry guys, don't mean to change topics here, but do we KNOW exactly which LR was experimental?

I'm just asking because from the above posts it seems as though you guys are certain of the LR sections difficulties, and since I had the LR LG LR RC LR format of the test, I'd love to know whether the experimental was the Section 1 LR, or the Section 3 LR. Doubt it'd be the Section 5 LR...

Thanks and again, not attempting to thread hijack.
