Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
Took PT #20 Today. Scored -4 LR -1 RC -4 LG -2 LR for a raw score of 90 and a scaled score of 171. Felt I did a little better than I scored here. Am especially disappointed because I missed the very 1st question on LR #1 due to sloppy reading and also missed #4, maybe I should consider warming up in the future. Happy with RC, I feel this is my strongest section. I've only done 3 RC passages and went -3, -4, and now -1, which is right where I want to be to do well, either -0 or -1 is my goal. Also what really truly killed me on this PT was the 4th LG, it was extremely difficult, so I couldn't get finish answering the last 3 questions. I had only missed one question (#2, missing another early question, sigh), but then missed #22, #23, #24. Missed 2 on the last LR, which I also did yesterday, relatively hard ones, #19 and #25, both of which were tough and I had to ponder for a while. Like yesterday, I only did a 4 section test. So, in the end I was satisfied with my performance on RC and the 2nd LR, but my 1st LR and LG section could have been a bit better.
Summary:
20 -- 03/25/10 ----- -4 LR -1 RC -4 LG -2 LR ------- 90/171 ---- missed last 3 on 4th LG due to extremely hard game

Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
Took PT 21 Today, score -4 LG, -6 LR (ugh), -2 LR, -3 RC, for a raw score of 86 and a scaled score of 169. Felt "off" for the entire test, couldn't get into a good rhythm, had timing issues, missed some questions I shouldn't have missed and did relatively poor on LG.
This is my 4th full prep test, and the first one to drop/not increase (trend: 165, 170, 171, 169). I guess this shows that I am stuck in that area, I need to maybe work on improving sections. I have my first PowerScore Online class tonight from 8pm-11pm, so hopefully I can start getting my scores out of that area. I want at least a 173+, so I need to bust through this plateau!
21 -- 03/30/10 ----- -4 LG -6 LR -2 LR -3 RC ------ 86/169 ----- 4 sections, felt off, disappointing, first PT to drop

Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
Haha, I truly nearly did. I wasted a lot of time on game #2, skipped to games #3 and #4, and didn't think I would even have time to completely game #2. I came back to it with around 5 minutes or so, and somehow it clicked and I was able to attack the questions and just sneak in under the time limit. And even the questions I answered on games #3 and #4 felt really rushed and for some reason my bubble pattern made me think I was bombing it haha. I guess it shows, just keep working and do your best, because you never know how it will work out!redsox wrote:Haha I love the "nearly bombed LG" notes.

A little bummed tonight:
23 -- 04/01/10 ----- -6 LG -4 LR -4 LR -4 RC ------ 82/168 ----- ran out of time on LG (2 q's), took at 9pm (noise + tired)

This is a great way to motivate yourself. I might just start a thread like this myself next month (got exams all this month).

I definitely agree, and you should! It would be cool too if there were a few people doing things and we can all provide support, feedback, and motivation for each othermaks25 wrote:This is a great way to motivate yourself. Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
i was debating doing this after reading your thread, and now i think i will (starting tomorrow). i have done about a month of studying and am about to get to the serious PT taking phase (still honing in on the areas where I am having trouble in LR and LG, respectively, have taken a few full length PTs but not on a regular basis yet). doing individual sections and problems right now.
good luck to all of us
good luck to all of us

Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
Took PT #24, was doing really well until the last logic game, only missing 8 questions, but then proceeded to miss 4 out of the last 6, due to incorrectly interpreting a rule in the game I believe? I'm going to have to further review this. Anyways, I got -2 RC -3 LR -2 LR -5 LG. If I can do what everyone says and "get my LG down to -0" i'd have scored 94/176 (!). So it looks like I might need to put in some work on the logic games section!
Oh well here is my score:
24 -- 04/03/10 ----- -5 LG -2 RC -3 LR -2 LR -6 LG - 88/171 ---- 4 sections, bombed last LG (missed 5/6)

Oh well here is my score:
24 -- 04/03/10 ----- -5 LG -2 RC -3 LR -2 LR -5 Lg - 89/171 ---- 4 sections, bombed last LG (missed 4/6)

On Track for the June 2010 LSAT -- :'(
Sweet! thanks so much for the encouragementmaks25 wrote:Knockglock wrote:Took PT #24, was doing really well until the last logic game, only missing 8 questions, but then proceeded to miss 4 out of the last 6, due to incorrectly interpreting a rule in the game I believe? Couple questions: when do you think the games start to shift and become easier? and is it gradual or dramatic shift?
Does it become much easier or only slightly easier?
Thanks again

Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
I am not 100% sure but I think the shift came around the late 30's, definitely by early 40's. I remember being shocked that I had 5min left after finishing the section. But, I never got comfortable with those "circle" ie. around the table games. Before then I would also get around -5, due to either oversight or time.Knockglock wrote:Sweet! thanks so much for the encouragementmaks25 wrote:Knockglock wrote:Took PT #24, was doing really well until the last logic game, only missing 8 questions, but then proceeded to miss 4 out of the last 6, due to incorrectly interpreting a rule in the game I believe? I used the LG bible like you, it catapulted my score to -0. Now I just need LR and RC(worst section, an appalling -14 or so) to get there for June hah.

Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
Haha, well let me just say that I can't wait for the shift to easier LG's. I got a good grasp of logic games I feel like, and I know I can figure out every game, but there is just that 1 game that has gotten me two PT's in a row completely ruining my score. Today I took PT 25 and went -0 RC -2 LR -9 LG -2 LR for 88 raw 169 scaled. Game 2 destroyed me, had to leave 7 questions blank, and game 3 was tough and I missed two more there. I definitely felt like i've gotten a good grasp on LR now, and the correct answer is standing out to me a little bit more. Guess i'm going to be drilling some LG for a while until I can get -0/-1 consistently.maks25 wrote:I am not 100% sure but I think the shift came around the late 30's, definitely by early 40's. Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
There is always that 1 section being uncooperative and holding me back
. This time, it was LR.
On the bright side, my RC never seems to hold me back, so if I can just get LR and LG to work with me, I can get up into my goal score range.
Summary:
26 -- 04/07/10 ----- -2 LG -5 LR -5 LR -2 RC ------ 87/170 ---- 4 sections, LR holding me back this time
Did my average for my last 8 Pt's (all but my diagnostic):
LR average (for both sections): -7.13
LG average: -4.13
RC average: -2.25

Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
Guess I'll throw my hat in the ring too...The June LSAT is about three weeks later here in Asia, so I'm not as deep into the PTs as most of you.
Superprep A: 88/167. -5 LR, -1 RC, -7 LG
Superprep B: 90/173. -5 LR, -0 RC, -6 LG
Superprep C: 89/172. -3 LR, -1 RC, -8 LG
So...it's obvious that I need to improve on the games. I know I have some time, but I'm really worried. I mean, I already finished the LG Bible and I've done all the LGs in PTs 7-28. They just take me so long - most of my mistakes come at the end of the LG sections when I have to guess on the last five or so questions.

Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
When people said that you can do the most improvement on the LG, I didn't believe them. But damn if they were right. I've been doing 2-3 sections a day for 2 weeks now and instead of getting -8 or -9 on the whole thing, I'm at -2, -3. With repetition, you learn how games are should be mapped out. That includes grouping, linear, advanced linear, etc. I haven't done any of the rare game types yet, or anything with circles..
Hardest part for me is the LR. It takes a hell of a lot of memorization to quickly be able to point out the type of question being asked. It's definitely improving but not as much as I hoped.

Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
I can attest to this. Before I had tons of practice, i would be lucky to get -5 on the games. Now that I've done tons of games (separately, not as part of PTs) I am finding even with worst case scenarios, I am getting -1 to -3 (within the time limitations!). The worst I did was when I was confronted with a rare game type (Pure Numeric Distribution) and bombed that one with a -4.Dave wrote:When people said that you can do the most improvement on the LG, I didn't believe them. I can't wait to see how I will be doing around test time. Practice makes perfect indeed, with these games.

Re: On Track for the June 2010 LSAT
New PT, had a hard game with lizards and snakes so I gave myself 5 extra minutes (I just kept working until I finished, and it ended up at around 40 minutes).
Went -2 LR (felt good here), -1 LG (due to extra time), -4 RC, -4 LR, I want to attribute some of this to my roommate coming home and being noisy while i'm trying to take the test, but I dont know if i'm deluding myself here
.
Summary:
27 -- 04/08/10 ----- -2 LR -1 LG -4 RC -4 LR ------ 90/174 ---- 4 sections, 5 extra minutes on LG! Artificially high score
Updated my averages:
LR: -7; change (-.13)
LG: -3.78; change (-.35)
RC: -2.44; change (+.19)

3 - 04, PT23 - 175
4 - 03, PT2 - 175
4 - 08, PT3 - 176
4 - 15, PT4 - 180
The games on the MOST recent preptests are actually quite on par with the 30s range. Hardest games ive done so far are in pt 1, 2, and 3, which u can get off cambridge lsat.

It's flabbergasting how different everyone's brain is. I thought the games on 1-3 were some of the easiest ever, and I keep running out of time on the games in the 30's.7ED wrote:3 - 04, PT23 - 175

Which game is the one with lizards and snakes so I can take a look at it?
