HORRIBLE Proctor and horrific testing conditions. Addendum?
Hey guys,
I took the 2/27 test yesterday at DC School of Law, and I must say that the testing conditions were not what I expected. First off, it took 2.5 HOURS to administer the test because the Proctor was so slow and senile. When the test starts, the proctor accidentally let off the alarm on 3 different occasions!!!! Moreover, I heard constant ringing noises for continuous stretches throughout the test. If that is not enough, the old senile proctor would be shuffling papers at the front of the room and even dropped a book on the ground at one point.
Additionally, I had the disadvantage of being cooped up in a room full of sick people. Every minute, one could expect to hear at least one cough from some individual taking the test. Cough after cough after cough after cough affected the level of concentration I needed to perform at my peak level. Although I am confident that I did "well," I feel that I could have done better had I taken the test under better conditions. I plan to write a complaint to LSAC regarding the proctor, and I am debating whether an LSAT Addendum is appropriate to include with all of my apps (especially my pending applications), regardless of my score.
Can anybody tell me if what I have written above should warrant an addendum, regardless of my score? The rest of my application is extremely strong, and I don't want my LSAT score to be the sour point of it without some kind of justification.

Guy next to me was sniffing like every 3 seconds during the first 10 minutes of the test, then he stopped. I think it was distracting himself. He also finished every section like 5 minutes early and wrote his writing section in 7 minutes then went to the bathroom. He was flipping to the second page when I was on question 3. I feel like he was either a genius or he was sick and nothing went into his head very well. I felt sorry for him, and I was glad he stopped sniffing!

yeah man, even if it is true, the addendum will do very little (which in my opinion most do since 150 with or without an addendum is a 150, so it only matters marginally), and even if it is true will sound very whiney and bitchy...which is unfortunate.

Nothing good can come out of this addendum. Sorry for your troubles, but them's the breaks.

sorry. I don't see much there for an addendum. I've taken the LSAT 3 times in 3 different cities, and most of that happened at every administration.

people coughing or sniffling in the test room is never a justification for an addendum. You should have been taking practice tests in crowded places like coffee shops or library lounges to train your brain to focus with background noises. Of course most people can perform at their top level in complete silence, but that is just not reality with a proctored test. Distractions are part of the game with the LSAT, and those who have trained themselves properly can block that stuff out. If you write an addendum to school about sniffling/coughing in your test room or the proctor shuffling some papers/dropping a book, you are going to get laughed at. No one's LSAT is removed of those common distractions. If the fire alarm got pulled or someone had a heart attack in the test room, that might be grounds for an addendum. Do yourself a favor and study and train in more realistic test conditions next time.

Amazing how you can make such a strong generalization about a person's personality based on the postings they make on an online board. Nothing less than a fire-drill would warrant an addendum for testing conditions.

Sounds like it was just bad luck... sorry that your conditions weren't great, but I really wouldn't write an addendum. It would just sound whiney and complainy--even if neither of those adjectives describes you. Everything you described will probably happen at some law school exams, and you just have to deal with it...

You could have made a complaint and been offered a free retake. If you chose to accept the score...then you can't write an addendum crying about it.andyman wrote:Hey guys,
