Need some advice here. Just received October score and found out I got a devastating 159.
I have UGPA of 3.95 and would have been content with 163-165.

My average was 163 before taking the October test. The testing environment was horrible (they were doing a construction outside the building when I was taking the test) and that's probably why I did worse than usual.

I doubt I can go over 165 with only one month left to prepare for December test, and I have to apply this year and can't wait til next cycle (personal reasons).

Should I be bother taking the December test? I probably should, but just wanted some opinions on this.

lol yep. what people say about a 5 point drop on test day is really true. 175 pt avg - 5 = my october score. hopefully ill be able to avoid the extreme anxiety the second time around.
paglababa wrote:Bee i'm in the same situation. I got a combined -8 on LR (-5 on LR1). I've never PTed so low so Idk what happened for Oct.
yeah :( just gotta nut up and keep moving.
I don't know where your misses came, but I think it was nerves for me because LR1 was pretty close to the beginning of the test for me. Especially after I thought I bombed LG (-2). RC was section 5 for me and I managed to pull off a miraculous -0.

I'm not sure what to prep now since I don't think I have any issues with any particular sections. I'm thinking just PT until Dec.
my score was def in large part due to anxiety. i had two lg sections upfront and lg was already my weakest section by far. having the real lg first just blew everything for me. i killed lg 2 (experimental), but i already had a gut feeling that it just wasnt gonna be my day. during lr2, i actually had a proctor hovering over me right at my shoulder, and it distracted me more than it should have. gotta work on all the small mental things for december.

final score break down was lg -7, lr2 -4, -0 rc/lr1
Haha we had the same test, LG, LG Exp, LR1, RC, LR2. LG2 was so easy and I was dissapointed to find out it was experimental. It was my first sitting though, so hoping you and I both go in there next time knowing what to expect.

Checking in- 160 on October after PTing 163-169 all the time. Absolutely butchered the second LR section. Did pretty well on the test otherwise. Studying starts in 10 minutes. Just need to clean up this LR problem for Dec and I'm set.

Checking in. Felt a part of a community though not officially a member in the waiting thread. I was wondering if you think retaking in December would put me at a disadvantage in applications. Right now I have a 3.95 and a 165 from this October.

I know this is not technically the right place to ask but I see some people I trust from looking in the waiting thread (hi bee).

My last practice tests before October were 169 169 168 169 169 170.

What is the best way to improve on RC? Its def need to focus on this section the most.

just keep working on sections, get used to the kind of questions they ask and how to either keep in your head stuff about the argument structure and main point as well as how to quickly scan where info will be (usually hinted by the questions answer choices). I'm still not perfect myself but i'm seeing steady improvement.

Thanks! I think I'm gonna take the next two days to kinda get myself together, print out materials and stuff before starting up again.

Thanks for reminding me. I used my roommates entire toner before the October test, should probably get a new one before printing out another 500 pages.

Wish I knew- not to sound obsessive but I'm starting the Manhattan LR book right now and just ordered the LSAT trainer due to the good reviews. I know if I can nail this section I can pull it all together. Any advice?

First post! Hello everyone!

I found TLS too late into my October studying so I just lurked around a bit. Got my test score today, and while it's pretty good (172), I decided to retake for a couple reasons:

1. 172 is not enough for the schools I'm interested in because of my sad, sad GPA.
2. My last 10 PTs average 175~176.
3. I improved from a 164 diagnostic to the 172 in just a month, so I know another boost in another month isn't unreasonable, especially since I was on a huge upward trend the last week of studying.

Would have to say my biggest weakness is LR. I get anywhere from -0 to -4 on a section. Sometimes I finish with 10 minutes extra to look over answers, sometimes I run out of time. I'm thinking more PTs, re-reading Manhattan LR, and going over the LSAT Trainer I just ordered (and everyone else it seems haha) should cover my studying for the next month.

Not retaking, but I feel I owe this forum after all of the terrific advice the people here have given me. I'll pop in here every once in a while when I can.

Hey, guys, longtime lurker. I'm planning for December, but I'm also planning for February, since I'm only PTing around 160 -162 right now. Planning two tests ahead alleviates my nerves a bit.

Just picked up the LSAT Trainer, and hoping to really increase my PT scores. I'm aiming for 170+.

Good luck to all!

Ouch.

Seriously though, I would try to see this in a positive way. You have conquered LG. RC is still an issue, but it's not awful. Really all about LR now- and PT 70 was a pretty tough LR test. Drill the shit out of LR- learn the concepts over and over. Your RC may improve somewhat with that too.

Once you've conquered LR- which is so very conquerable- you will be looking at scores in the top couple percentiles.

I'm having the toughest time in deciding about this retake. I'm looking at close to full now at NU/UVA maybe, with significant money from Penn/Duke? My #1 choice = Columbia/NYU but apparantly I have no shot at the Hamilton without a 176+.

I really am not sure if I can raise my score from 171 to 176. My PTs were all over the place between 169-176 with most of my practice scores falling in the 173-174 range.

I'm also in the same boat. I just re-did my questions I got wrong and its irksome that I was able to get most of them right.

Either way, is 1 month enough time to make improvement in LR? It's not that I don't KNOW this stuff, but for whatever reason (nerves? fatigue?) I didn't execute on game day for LR.
