Little bit of an update. I've been practicing for about a month now going through strategy guides and then drilling. I have been doing problem types mostly in isolation, but I decided today to see if I could put it all together. I didn't time myself, as my focus at this point is if can I actually get the correct answer. I will of course begin strictly timing myself, but at this point I'm focused on getting questions correct. So I started a stopped watch and took PT-62 and scored a 168!! It was un-timed, but I finished most of the sections within 35 min. It's such a huge improvement from that 146. I go back and forth about whether I'll be ready for June, but today's PT gives me hope. Looking forward to seeing more improvement.

Great job, any and all progress is exceptional in LSAT Preparation. I am now five days away from my one month mark. Unlike like yourself I've been taking taking PTs every weekend to mark my weekly progress. I feel this gives me a good understanding of the methodology of the actual application of my strategies. Your timing is impeccable, as well as your score, my score last week on PT 29 was 153, untamed ( I did not move from my desk for approximately 4hrs). At the very least I know my endurance is certainly up to par!!!! I was still focused to, but it seems that we are in similar time frame of studying, and I wanted to see if you would be interested in starting a weekly study group? Also, never doubt yourself, according to most of the study guides on TLS, we are in a good time frame of being able to achieve a competitive score for HYS, or at least T14 schools. Its a matter of content of prep materials, motivation, and consistent drilling/reviewing.

Hey guys. I decided this past weekend I should stop procrastinating and get going with LSAT Prep and came across this forum. I was thinking I would be ahead of the curve if I started now, but you guys have me beat with your time spent prepping under your belt. It has definitely given me the kick in the butt I need.
Took a timed PT the other day as a diagnostic to see how far I have to climb and scored a 157. Definitely well-below where I want to be so now it's hard work from here on out for the next four months.
The mutual support in this thread will definitely be helpful for the trials and tribulations prepping has in store for us for the months ahead.

That's a GREAT diagnostic. Most people start in the high 140s/very low 150s. I started at a 151 but haven't taken a PT yet. I am waiting to do a lot more drilling and have more of the ideas solidified in my brain.

Anyway, what was your breakdown? If you are missing the most in LG then you are on your way to an impeccable score.

Yay for LR consistency!
I was actually able to figure out the easier games. On the linear one, I got 5/5. On the grouping one, I got 4/5. On one of the more complex ones I got 4/6, and the last one had me stumped. Not knowing what to do combined with spending too much time on the other games left me with 2/7 on the final game. Whoops.
I have to say I wish my LG score was worse and my LR and RC better because, as people say, LG is the easiest to improve upon.

I don't think I'll take another PT for awhile until I start The Trainer and become more comfortable with tackling each kind of question. I also ordered the Cambridge's Ultimate LSAT Prep Package for drilling and for more PT's.

Yea man! If you get that LG to -0 (which won't be too difficult), tighten up that first LR section to a -5, and tighten up that RC to a -5 you are already looking at a high-mid 160s. You got a -32 and I think just getting down the basic fundamentals (the improvements I noted here) will get you to a -15. Then the real work comes

I always have to tell myself that these are not "stupid" mistakes. They are mistakes. If you knew it, you would have chosen it. The LSAT is a tricky test and you just have to face that you fell for a trap answer. It is part of the learning process to recognize this, fix it, and try your best not to make it again. I believe it will all come with time.

Hey everyone! So happy to see that their is a study group for the June 2014 LSAT. I was originally supposed to take the February LSAT that is of course 3 days from today. After multiple nightmares of me missing multiple questions and feeling unprepared, I decided to not take it at all. I have yet to withdraw my exam however because their is a possibility my test center will be closed this Saturday and if that is the case, LSAC gives you the option of taking a "make-up exam date" or refunding your money or allowing you to take it in June free of charge. Although it is not really free of charge because we paid for the exam, just weren't able to take it. Anyways, whatever the case may be, I am definitely taking it in June. I wanted to know if there are any good books anyone recommends. I am new to TLS so not sure where I should look. I appreciate any advice I can get from anyone. Just like with college, I am the first in my family to go to law school. Finding out information has been difficult for me because I'm on my own completely. Anytime I ask my parents to try and help me it ends up being a pointless discussion. I love them endlessly but I wish they were a bit more educated. Again, any advice I can get is much appreciated. Oh and one last thing, because I am so new to TLS I accidentally posted this same post under my own thread. I meant to post it under this thread so is there anyway to delete that? Haha i'm off to a terrible start.

First I'd like to congratulate you on doing the smart thing by not taking the LSAT before you are absolutely ready to. Good job. Those 3 takes may sound like a lot but they can go quick.

As for the books, here is what people recommend generally:
-The LSAT Trainer by Mike Kim: for a solid foundation
-The Manhattan Logical Reasoning Guide: to supplement the more specific chapters of the Trainer
-Cambridge Bundles - PTs 1-40 split up by question type: absolute MUST. You can get them in PDF form on the Cambridge website. This is for drilling and you cannot go without it.
-http://7sage.com/logic-game-explanations/: FREE! 7sage is a logic games master and he takes you through each and every logic game ever step by step. This is to supplement your LG drilling
-Every PT 40-70

Optional
-Manhattan Logic Games and Manhattan Reading Comprehension Strategy Guides: the Trainer might be enough but some people (like myself) really like the Logic Games guide by Manhattan and you can never have too much Reading Comp
-Blueprint LR/LG Bibles: never read them, ask jaylawyer

Just signed up for the Kaplan free proctored test on the 22nd, feeling a little anxious. I don't want a soul-crushing bad score as this will be my first PT since my diagnostic two years ago. I really hope for a 164+ but I know my reading comprehension is going to be shaky since I haven't touched that stuff yet. I average -4/-5 in LR right now per section with only a little drilling done so I am confident that more exposure will get that lower and I am not worried about games.

EDIT: I am assuming that they are administering the June 07 exam. I just took a peak at the conversion chart. HOLY SHIT. A -8 CURVE. That seems insane......

Does anybody know where I can obtain LR and RC Questions with Explanations, for a more reasonable price, or even free, that are as effective in comparison to Cambridge's Bundles? Also, does anyone know of any good video tutorials for LR and RC, that are as effective as 7sage's LG explanations.

Question for free is illegal, so don't do that.
There are really great explanations on the Manhattan Forums for individual questions, but I don't know of any video tutorials besides the paid ones for LR/RC

Very wise decision, its all about your study material, motivation to achieve your goals, optimism, and drilling. I have the Powerscore Bibles LG/LR, The LSAT Trainer, ALL LSAC PT's, the LSAC Super Prep Book, and a vast amount of study guides from various 180'ers (especially TLS1776), also I made several Excel data sheets of break downs on my scores, as well as a Dry Erase Board in my room for weekly goals. The key is from what I understand based off Mike the Author of The LSAT, is that this Test is completely learnable, but you must be willing to not only put the work and time into the Test but learn its nature, find your weakness and grow with them, and find your strength's, and retain them. If you would like I am approximately one month into my Prep work, and I am starting a study group for June 9th test takers, if your interested to join or perhaps anyone else for that matter, please pm me.
