A few years ago in new york the city bar association had a talk and a resume drop type thing specifically for family law. I would look to see if there is anything similar this year/in your area. It was really informative and there are a ton of opportunities in family law in addition to just being a divorce lawyer especially if you are public interest inclined.

Is it tough to get a jerb at a small firm doing family (or immigration) law when all your experience is public interest--specifically, Legal Aid? I have a VERY bleeding heart resume, lol.
