Georgetown possibly slipping off the t-14
So it seems that the past few years has seen GT getting steadily worse (its still an obviously amazing school). Even though t-14 hasn't ever changed except for that year when there was 2 t-14 schools, is it possible for GT to slide down to 15-18 and a school like UCLA/TEXAS taking over its spot? This is all hypothetical, I'm just curious about what you all think

Why are you forgetting Vandy, which has made an impressive climb up.gnomgnomuch wrote:So it seems that the past few years has seen GT getting steadily worse (its still an obviously amazing school). Im not discounting Vandy either, I just feel that Texas has a better shot at cracking the T-14 since its already "cracked" it once, and then I take UCLA because it the next down on the ranking.

If Georgetown drops out, there won't be a new T14 member. It will become the T13.

Right, Texas tying for the 14th spot didn't make a T15. The T14 is composed of schools that have always been the top 14 ranked schools since rankings came out, if Georgetown drops to 15, it won't meet the criteria anymore, but neither will whoever ends up in the 14th spot.californiauser wrote:If Georgetown drops out, there won't be a new T14 member. The t14 is the 14 national elite schools. USNEWS didn't create it. Gtown could be 57 next year and guess what? It's still fucking T14.

Exactly. The only reason that the USNWR rankings are a quarter-notch above dangerously useless is the fact that their ranking system manages not to screw up when it comes to listing the fourteen traditionally elite law schools within its own top fourteen.Desert Fox wrote:Would you guys stop repeating this retarded meme.Kikero wrote:Right, Texas tying for the 14th spot didn't make a T15. No one is forgetting Vandy. It's one of the four strongest regional schools (along with UT, UCLA, and USC), but it's not a nationally elite school, and it isn't close to being one.Mab2013 wrote: You guys are forgetting about Vandy

You know, I would only consider the top 6 schools "nationally elite" . How portable is a degree from NW or Cornell nationally. lets be honest.Ti Malice wrote:No one is forgetting Vandy. I'd bet Cornell and NW are no less national than CCN. I bet NW has more actual geographic diversity in placement than all of the above, but probably because of self selection.Mab2013 wrote:You know, I would only consider the top 6 schools "nationally elite" . Self-selection? And probably still not as much as Michigan, because Michigan.Desert Fox wrote:I'd bet Cornell and NW are no less national than CCN. People at CCN go to NYC because they want to.laotze wrote:Self-selection? I bet Michigan is even more than NW too.

Yeah, I meant to agree with that. Don't know what was with my weird wording.Desert Fox wrote: People at CCN go to NYC because they want to.
At least NW has the Chicago market. I don't think many non-native Michiganers seriously consider Detroit as anything but the most desperate of last resorts.Desert Fox wrote:I bet Michigan is even more than NW too.

Meh, there's no hard and fast official rule for T14. Tons of people on here refer to it as the T13 now since GULC tied with another non-T14. I'd be willing to bet TLS/the internet could change the meaning of T13/T14 over time.Desert Fox wrote:Would you guys stop repeating this retarded meme.Kikero wrote:Right, Texas tying for the 14th spot didn't make a T15. There's already way more positive sentiment across the intarwebz for UT than for GULC, in my completely unscientific opinion.californiauser wrote:Meh, there's no hard and fast official rule for T14. Because UT actually charges their instate students something venturing close to a reasonable tuition cost. UT is awesome, GTOWN leaves you broke for the next decade

It's this obsession with the T14 that's killing me. I don't see a big gap between UT/Vandy/UCLA and the other schools in the 9-14 range
