But why do you have to be constantly raising your hand and tearing out textbook pages to be a 'gunner.' I don't think many students tear out pages at any law school, as that's pretty extreme. Yet from what I saw of NU, the 1L sections seemed full of gunners (I.e. somewhat abrasive and unpleasant to talk to, constantly self-assuring/humblebragging, globally ignorant, uptight, type-A's). There were definitely some nice people and I'm also sure these types are not unique to this school, but I am just pointing out that many law students don't consider themselves to be gunners, but people outside this environment would consider many of these people gunners.
