Direct PLUS loan app question

When applying for a Grad PLUS loan, the form asks for a loan period start and end date. Should that period just be one year? (e.g. July 2012-July 2013, if tuition is due in July?) or should that period be for the entire time I'll be in law school?

On the same screen where it asks for this info there is a drop down box which allows you to select the desired school year. After choosing the year it fills in the dates automatically. I missed this at first too
