GPA Higher than 4.0

Post by the_pakalypse » Thu Jul 21, 2011 8:50 pm

For T-14, does getting a GPA higher than 4.0 pose any significant advantage? I read somewhere they factor in that some schools don't have an A+ system(impossible to get 4.33), so anything around 4.0~ish they treat the same. Is that true? I've tried searching this question but with such vague search terms it's hard to come up with anything.

Thanks!

Yes. Getting A-plusses is generally advantageous.

A 4.33 GPA compared to a 4.0GPA isn't akin to a 4.0GPA to a 3.67GPA, but it does matter. Generally, A+'s are usually reserved for the best (of the best) performing students in the class, whereas a 4.0 may be easy to get if 40% of your class is getting an A/A- (got to love the GPA padding classes...). This implies it shows some excellence above that of a A/4.0.
