Raw scores for US News Rankings?

Post by hoha776 » Thu Mar 10, 2011 7:03 pm

I googled this topic and searched forum and couldn't find this, though I know I came across it in the past. Does anyone know where I can see the raw scores for the US News Rankings? The rankings are terribly subjective, but it still would be useful to know just how close the raw scores are. For example, is Yale's raw score 100 and Duke's 98? 80? Thanks in advance to whoever can point me in the right direction. Since new rankings come out very soon, where I could find those 2012 raw scores would be helpful as well once they're released.

They used to be on the website, but it seems that USNews is publishing less on the website with their recent redesign.

I'm sure you could find last year's raw scores somewhere online, but for the new ones, you might have to buy a print version of the 2011 rankings (or maybe subscribe to their online rankings thing).

Yale is 100. Duke is in the 80s. I forget where I found this, but I remember it dropping down pretty quick. Stanford is closer to Harvard (think it's 97, not sure) than a 100. It doesn't go down by 1's - most drops are by several points. I didn't read past 20, but now I'm wondering if they go negative.

What's interesting about are UCLA and Texas are closer to the bottom t-14 than the bottom t-14 is to the t-10.

Indeed:
11. Duke 82 (tied with Northwestern)
13. Cornell 78
14. GULC 77
15. UCLA/Texas 76
17. Vandy 75
18. USC 71

With UCLA's medians going up but GULC's not, it's conceivable they could be tied/leapfrog this year. We'll see what shenanigans go on with the other stats (particularly with US News claiming they're shaking up the employment statistics).

Edit: ATL page (LinkRemoved) with scan of tier1

Also, cool visualization of raw scores:

Not sure why USC appears so close to Vandy on that, but still interesting.

Edit part 2: beaten to the punch!

Edit 3: Also, looks like my visualization is from the wrong year.

Where's this from? Are there 0's? Now I'm curious. Unless they just suddenly stop and everything becomes the same, I'd have to imagine 70 and below gets a negative score.
