Unknown on the frequency, but check your Michigan mail too. Mine went to both personal and umich.edu, but maybe yours is lagging to one of your inboxes?jg61 wrote:Are these personalized/sent in waves? Haven't heard yet...wondering if I didn't get it hah

So I think the million dollar question is how many Pokestops are there on campus?

Has anyone visited the apartments at Meadowbrook Village or Briar Cove that could share their impressions of either place? My original apartment plans fell through and I need to find something ASAP!

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I was wondering when those of you non-LC Fall Starters are planning on flying/driving to A2. My lease begins on August 1, but I feel like 22 days is too early. I'm thinking maybe like a week or week and a half before orientation seems like about the right amount of time to furnish and decorate my apartment and familiarize myself with the city.
Does anyone have an opinion on this? I'm afraid prices will go up on flights if I tarry too much longer.

I'm driving up and moving in on August 1, but I have some friends in the Minneapolis area I want to visit before classes start too. I also might go to the Hoxeyville music festival and plan on doing a lot of exploring both around town and random places outside of Ann Arbor by bike, so personally I think 3 weeks is a good amount of time to settle in and enjoy the area!DankNug666 wrote:Long time lurker, first time poster.

In the course catalog, every section now has a professor assigned (before, some just said "staff."), So hopefully schedules are coming soon?

Hope so! Orientation info page said section info would be on Wolverine Access in early August but that "section assignments are not final until after you register." Does anybody know how they determine what sections we are in? I vaguely remember reading an old Michigan class thread from several years ago in which somebody said he/she thinks they aren't entirely random.mabes wrote:In the course catalog, every section now has a professor assigned (before, some just said "staff."), So hopefully schedules are coming soon?

I thought it was by last name but I definitely could've gotten that from something they said at another schoolshineoncrazydiamond wrote:Hope so! I seem to remember a post from Dean Z's blog talking about how she puts sections together herself to achieve diversity in backgrounds/viewpoints, etc.jumbo2016 wrote:I thought it was by last name but I definitely could've gotten that from something they said at another schoolshineoncrazydiamond wrote:Hope so! EDIT: Dean Z + registrar apparently do some insane manual human chess, assuming they still do it this way:

Dear fucking god that sounds exhausting! Do other law schools do it that way? No, right???laliforevar wrote:I seem to remember a post from Dean Z's blog talking about how she puts sections together herself to achieve diversity in backgrounds/viewpoints, etc.jumbo2016 wrote:I thought it was by last name but I definitely could've gotten that from something they said at another schoolshineoncrazydiamond wrote:Hope so! To those points re section assignments, I've also heard rumors of active attempts from the Admissions Office to play matchmaker as they shape the sections. I thought that seemed far-fetched until I read this blog post:

Interesting! They seem to put a lot of effort into this. Sounds pretty unpleasant for them, but it's nice that they try to be thoughtful about it. Thanks all!
ETA regarding romantic match-making: One of my former tutoring students had parents who fell in love at Michigan Law. Not sure if Dean Z officiated the wedding haha.

Thanks for the heads up! Not sure what to think of my schedule.... Three days of 8:55 am classes, but my only class on Monday isn't until 2:35 in the afternoon- essentially a 3 day weekendshineoncrazydiamond wrote:FYI my class schedule is up on wolverine access!
